Default Motoring J Style 2008

Motoring J Style 2008
Northern California’s Japanese Car Festival
Saturday, May 24, 2008
Solano County Fairgrounds, Vallejo, CA.

Motoring J Style is back for 2008, bringing you the best NorCal has to offer: hundreds of vintage and classic Japanese cars on display, a first-ever Japanese car swap meet, drifting competition, rally demos, awards, music, and more.

On May 24th, the fairgrounds will again become a car guy’s dream come true: 400 classic Japanese cars will be on display – you’ll see Toyota Corollas, Celicas, Datsun 510s, Roadsters, rotary Mazdas, flat-four Subarus, and 2-cylinder Hondas alongside twin-turbo NSXs. They’ll all be there. And a few surprises, too!

SPECIAL DATSUN FEATURE: We’ll have Peter Brock of BRE Datsun and Shelby fame on hand to sign autographs, and give a presentation on old-school Datsun racing. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to hear from one of racing’s greats! NISSAN is even bringing out the #46 Datsun 510 that won the SCCA Trans Am championship in 1971/72. Don’t miss it!

Interested in showing off your ride in the show, or signing up as a vendor? Better get your application in soon! Go to www.motoringjstyle.com to access our registration forms. To encourage participation of old-school rides, the car show costs only $30 to enter if your car is a 1985 or earlier model. This gets you 2 tickets to the show plus car show entry! Got a newer car to show? No problem – we’ve got room for you. Entrance in the show gets you two passes for admission, Motoring J Style license plate frames, and the chance to win awards for outstanding cars.

If you missed us last year, come out and see a different kind of car show – a car guy’s car show! Bring your ride and enjoy music and food in the company of friends and family. We welcome everyone to come and be a part of the second-annual Motoring J Style - the biggest event of the summer! Spectator tickets are $20 at the door.

Wow.
The MotoringJStyle show was an absolute blast!
Here are my pics:
http://rides.webshots.com/album/560063977kCVyFs

Not sure what you mean by "high crime" and "parking lot".
Cars were displayed on grass inside the fairgrounds? Folks were chilling by their cars enjoying the sun like at any outdoor car show.

I think this was the first event put on by David Swig, and it went off w/o a hitch. Completely succesfull! Totally organized. Did you see the "red carpet" treatment for show winners? The drift competition with Alex Pfieffer present?
The ultra rare vintage and late-model JDM cars, even the hot-rod/Lexus-powered Celica show car was there!

Maybe it wasn't deemed "cool" by you since there weren't any mad tyte vip style cars or JDM hoochie car models? Oh wait they had those too!

Ahh I see, the spectator parking, okay dually noted.
No offense on the "mad tyte" comment...I have seen your car and I don't know you personally but your take on the MjS show sounded kind of elitist.

If this is/wasn't a "real" event, I doubt the #people attending or quality of cars would be so high. It will be even larger this year.

HID was held at the Pleasanton fairgrounds a few years ago, and I thought that place was super ghetto. Was it a "real" event? I don't know.

edit: If they offer a "best VIP" award and I corral 9-10 VIP-style cars would you be more/less inclined to attend?

I thought the Motoring J Style event was pretty cool last year.. There was a great mix of cars and the drifting demo was pretty cool... Car Crazy was even there to shoot interview footage - saw some of it on an episode last week...

Granted the Fairgrounds is close to the 'Crest but it's not like it's a block or 2 away... As with any car shows, I'll be more leary of "haters" that mess with cars parked in the lots...

With that said, I think the "Don't attend this event and go to the one I'm supporting" comment is a bit inappropriate....

This event is local to me so I won't miss it for sure....
I think it will be bigger than last year....

Agreed!
It is a "real" event.
-Coverage of the show was featured on Car Crazy TV, Ron Carter(240z owner) was interviewed!
Watch closely and you might see you car on tv!
http://www.datsunracing.us/RC-World/RC-CC_2.wmv

-It was also featured in several high profile newspapers.
-Lightning Auto thought it was real enough to send folks from Japan to make a 15-page spread in their magazine:

[picture whoring]They even featured my car:

It is a REAL show for Japanese car enthusiasts. Leave it at that

Sure if you don't mind.

I will actually be at the event with my car as well as under media and MJS and I are all squared away so no biggie. I just don't want anyone to get the wrong impression of what I was trying to get at

These are all classic cars back in the 70,80,90's. There are also current cars from the 2000+. Without these cars, our current cars probably would not exist today. 350Z/Supra's/G35 etc... .

I may be attending with 23 other cars in my group.
