Default LS1 RX-7(FD) Complete!!!

I built this RX-7 for my friend, Ben. He use to own a TT 350z, thought I'd share it with you guys.
It is a '93 FD with a full LS1/T-56 drivetrain swap. I had intentions of building an exact replica but he is still modifying the car to his tastes, hence the wheels an spoilers:smile:
I am most proud of the engine bay, chassis and the tail-lights.
Things I tried to duplicate like the little oil dipstick, intake/exhaust, Greddy oil-catch can, and brake lines all make me happy:biggrin:
A a few videos of the car in action:

looks nice. And not trying to be a hater or anything. But why not just buy an old LS1 for a lot less (I would assume) than making this? I assume maintenace would be a lot easier in the larger corvetee engine bay, the weight of the much heavier engine would be better on an axle made to accomodate it, etc.

Ummm... ummm... Maybe I need my vision checked, but other than that 1:1 pic, the rest look like model car pics. Right? Am I just seeing something wrong here? Looks like a model car put together with a model LS1 right???

LOL.. Now that I read the other links, I see the answer.

Plenty of reasons, but in a nutshell:
-FD chassis is several hundred pounds lighter than the 'vette
-You'd be surprised how little weight gain/distribution is...som elose weight b/c of no IC/turbo etc...
-FD has a much better suspension design, no antiquated leaf springs here!
-reliability compared to rotary of course
-the idea is to "beat" the 'vette without buying one, an dlook good doing it
-instant torque, compared to rotary

haha see you really can't beat this drivetrain $/hp. LSx own all!

I'm about to get waaaay off topic here but the Z33/LSx swap is kind of a step backwards since you're putting the engine into a car that weighs MORE, not less!!! In the end you've got a Z that still weighs more than the the car the motor came out of, ie the 'vette
On the other hand that LS2 will make more hp/tq stock than the stock VQ and sky's the limit from there!

Cool. Model or not, trying to understand the logic. Now, how the hell would you get it smogged in California?
