Default Question - would you do this

hypothetical question, say there was a raffle and only 300 tickets were sold and tickets are $100 a piece. The prize lets say its either a brand new 350z or a G35.

so odds are if you buy 1 raffle ticket you have 1 in 300 chance of winning.

Will you be willing to purchase a raffle ticket?

cuz if you buy all 300 ... at 100 a piece ... you'll be spending more than the car itself. lol.

and if you buy half of the tickets and spend 15,000 ... you only still have 150/300 chance of winning and you're out ... 15k.

If you have the hundred to spend I would take the chance. Its a 1 and 300 chnce worse case you blow a hundred bucks I'm sure you have waisted money on other things.

I would do it depending on how the winner is chosen, like in one of those wheel spin things ok but not like oh this name sounds cool lets pick that person.

It does not matter how the winner is chosen. Buying only one ticket will not give you a very good chance of winning, as your probability of winning is extremely low 0.33% (1/300). Unless your odds are better than 60% (for example, your odds would be 66.7% if you bought 200 tickets out of 300), it does not make sense to buy a ruffle ticket because you are most likely to lose. Its just basic statistics.

raffles are for fun and usually for charity, if it went to a good cause i might. If there were no charity involved, I would assume it was a scam.
