I have a problem....
What's up all! I'm in need of assistance. My SES light came on after driving from Santa Clara back to my place. Has anyone experienced this before? I did a search but came up empty on how to reset it. I've resetted my Maxima's ECU numerous times but I don't know if it's the same process for the Z. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
how fast were you going

Must be the uneven pressure coming out of your halfed silence injen
just playing man..
Did you try undoing the ground on the battery yet? Yeah I know, I'm not much help, just post whoring on this fine Wed moring

pm Yuichi, I think he might be able to help you with the ECU reset procedures.

Dave,
It was fine yesterday when I was driving around Santa Clara. Then my gf and I went to Albertsons to buy some stuff. When I autostarted the car and entered, that's when I noticed the SES light. I haven't tried disconnecting the battery yet and I'll call Yuichi today to ask some questions.

I got this from Roark (fellow Z member).
Here are the steps to an ECU reset as told by the shop manual.
1) Turn ignition on, wait 3 seconds
2) Push fully and release the gas pedal 5 times within 5 seconds
3) Wait 7 secs, fully push gas pedal and hold for 10 seconds until the CES light starts to blink
4) Release gas pedal (you are in diagnostic test mode 2)
5) Press and hold gas pedal for more than 10 seconds. Release pedal.
This procedure may also work for clearing the CES light after simple goof-ups like a loose fuel filler cap.

I did what bz8 and dwnshift told me. It worked, but the it kept flashing while I took it out for a drive to the bank. I autostarted and voila, no more SES light. Here are the codes it gave me during diagnostic mode:
10 slow
3 fast
10 fast
10 fast
Don't know what kind of problem it might have been. But everytime I pushed the pedal during acceleration on the way to the bank, SES would flash constantly.

But there is no code 1300 or 3001, so something's not right.
You can repeat the original steps to get into diagnostic mode 2 and reread the codes, that might help.

Shuting off the car (at the bank) for more than 20 seconds caused the ECM to leave that diagnostics display mode.
I highly recommend anyone with a car newer than '96 buy an inexpensive OBD II scanner (I use a CarChip from Davis Labs) that will tell you all sorts of things about your car, help diagnose simple problems, and reset check engine lights.

Here's a link I though I'd share for those w/ out an OBD-II scanner. I think the 10 slow flashes in the 1st sequence indicate "0."

Sorry for the repost if you've already seen this before....

Here are some diagrams that might help out. These were taken directly from the service manual. The first is an example of how to interpret the flashes of the CES light and map them to DTC codes.
The second is the description of DTC 0300 - 0306 from the troubleshooting section of the service manual. I'm not convinced that his code is in fact 0300. If it is, however, a rapid change in the crankshaft speed sensor is what would generate 0300 specifically, so it could be any of the possible causes listed.
Same number of flashes again. I'm gonna take it to Capitol Nissan tomorrow and have them pull out the code to confirm the problem. One question though, has anyone taken their car there w/ mods and not get questioned or hassled by it?
