Hmmm... 15mph and loss of traction.... He must have a turbo on that beast!!!
Also what happened to tcs or vdc?

Also 15mph in first gear is like 4k rpm’s that is pretty high rpm to be at in the rain... Next time in rain.. Kick it up a gear or two.. You don't need to go crazy like 6th at 30mph but remember rain = slippy...

Hell I can’t even get off the line in first gear at 1/10th throttle and easy clutch engagement without sliding the rear end around. Now imagine if I am doing that at 15mph in first that would be even more interesting.
But anyways, I digress, if you were truly not driving like an a$$hat and the car just went away from you I would suggest driving a little slower or take some lessons. (Not the standard driving lessons, like an auto-x or track event or a drifting event.)
If you were attempting to “drift” please STOP. There are tons of events now in nor-cal. Streets = Fail!!!

ESPECIALLY WHEN TRYING TO DRIFT ON STREET W/ NAVI AND NAVI FLYING OUT THE WINDOW!!! HA!!

Question This cant be true ????

So after the accident I got this citation from court

"Basic speed law - collision" for $220 ....

1. I didnt do any damage to the state property
2. To anyone else car ....
3. Was below speed limit .....

Then what is this for? ....

... is it for covering the 42 Billion california deficit
... or for helping me out to recover from the trauma of the crash
... or for rebuilding the road ... make it more slippery so that they can get more money

Guys seriously should I contest this citation or just pay the money ....

You know my take on this...

One 360 then over a curb and into a ditch @ 15mph

If you think the judge will believe you then fight it.

You can try to fight it, and say that you were not violating the prima facia speed limit, or traveling at a speed which was unsafe. You will probably lose because the state has an obvious bit of evidence which is: You were driving unsafely because you lost control of your car, and hence violated the law.

Basically... if you lose control of your car - you have violated the law... especially if it's raining.

Might as well try and fight it IMO though, there's no point in not trying. A lot of judges are reasonable people, and understand that **** happens. Never just let "the man" open your wallet and take your cash IMO.

Do your homework on the law you've violated before you go to court. Don't just show up and try to defend yourself without a clue.

sorry to hear about the accident and am glad you are safe...

my bro-in-law has been telling me that his z is pretty twitchy when the road is wet too... why is that? my g sedan never had problems with wet traction before... hope everything works out for you.

Default Thanks

That is my take on it, I'll try and denfend myself based on the fact i was belpw the speed limit and that no signs are posted for lower speed limit or something like "slippery when wet".

Thanks for the tip mcarther101 i'll see what all I can learn before going to the court.

And thats right Z is twitchy if driven with lil less care ....

And as for the too fast for the condition .... i was at 30 at max ... what is the best suggested speed ... for z in wet condition and failure of traction control

Default The outcome

Hi ...
So this is what happened...

- I went to court on 3rd march appx.30 days ahead of the hearing
- Rescheduled my hearing
- Contested not guilty for the citation
- I have to pay the fine but I was told that I can get rid of the points if i go
to the traffic school.... cool (saves a bunch of money in insurance)

I'll suggest if possible go and fight the citation by a process called trial by declaration the chances of winning are very high and in most cases no lawer is needed...

My Z is back and performing better ...

Thanks for your comments ....

Congrats on getting your car back. Next time when taking a turn in the rain reduce your RPM range and if you start to spin correct it by counter steering and try to avoid slamming on your brakes but instead feather your clutch.

As far as court goes, don't sweat it to much. Just pay the fine and do your traffic school and take it as a lesson learned. Trust me when I tell you that the judge is still going to charge you because you lost control of your car in the rain and there is no fighting that. At best, the judge might reduce the fine some but I highly doubt you will be let go with no fine.

Good luck and drive safe.
