Saw one of these for another state and wished California had it and here it is. Hope it's not a repost

I agree the front license plate is BS, and that's why I don't have one. It's just a fix it ticket though, and with my 5% tint and no front license plate I've only got pulled over once in the last 8 months though... so no big deal.

You know these petitions don't do **** right? I've seen these on the internet since early 2001-2002. Don't waste your time.
Just run a front plate. Done deal

Yep Just don't give your local PD any reason to pull you over, that's including front plates or exhaust

Doubt they'd seriously consider getting rid of the law. It's just a reason for them to pull you over and cite you for more stuff = more money. And CA isn't exactly rolling with surplus revenue either. Hell even the meter maids in my neighborhood are going on driveway patrols to ticket people who's rearends are sticking a little past into the sidewalk now.

5200(a) CVC is a great enforcement section to use. There's been many great arrests (warrants, dope, guns) resulting from those stops. I don't believe the state legislature will ever remove it. I know it sucks and a front plate looks horrible on nice sports cars, but it serves a purpose.

I have been once (almost pulled over), but actually never. So I consider it good that I don't live near Palto Alto and some other areas they look for them. The group I was with, 2/3 got fixit tickets for the front plate and tint, butttt.... no tickets for the TT's, etc. What can I say, it was a G35 run I was on. GPS showed a few of us the back way out on rock and dirt road, which a guy in the restaurant told us to look for, as it was a mountain cruise. That was last year, and I haven't been back since.

Glad to see people trying to effect change in laws / government. Gotta get involved if you care or else eat what they feed you!

Too bad all the replies are pooh-poohing the petition or we might actually have enough signatures to get on a ballot somewhere.

Happened on another G35 run a couple years back and got profiled BAD!!
We no longer give out 'all' details on public forum now.
Interesting, haven't been profiled since on those annual runs I've been on
They troll many forums I'll guarantee you that.
Some are even forum members, which I know for a fact just by their SN and what they chime in about AND post lol.

isn't it obvious when they pull you over that they see you walking to the trunk to pull out the plate? for all he knows you could be pulling a gun out of the trunk

no I won't show unless he ask me about the plate. Most cops are cool with it and I just put on the plate while they watch.

I live in SF and over the last few years, I have gotten 4 tickets for no front license plate. Having it in the trunk and offering to put it on after you get pulled over doesn't work. They want the money and they need to justify why they pulled you over.

By the way, I got 3 of those tickets while legally parked with money left in my parking meter, so they really look for this stuff here. Each time was a $10 fix it ticket, so I just put the plate on long enough to get a cop to sign off the ticket (btw, stupid meter maids can give you the ticket but are not allowed to sign off on it when you put the plate back on...)
