Default Got my Performance Z yesterday!

Hi all,
I'm officially a Z owner now. Just got my SS performance 04 model yesterday. About 85 miles drive to Petaluma and came back with my dream car. I drove my family's stick shift car for about 2 yrs after I got my license. After that I bought an automatic 98 Civic EX (hadn't driven a stick shift for more than 5 yrs). Yesterday was the first day I got my feels back and it didn't take long. I drove passed Sausalito, San Rafeal, Golden Gate Bridge, Downtown SF and came back thru 101 south.

Thanks to John for referring Randy. He's an absoletely nice sales manager. Going back to them in 3 months for a free oil change and drill holes on front bumper.

Congrats.... but NO HOLES! You are so priviliged not to have holes straight from the dealership, as most take the liberty of putting them on.

Trust the advice of everyone on the board, stick with an aftermarket front plate holder (grill type... anything type, just not drilled holes).

If you had a SB, I would just ask you to trade front bumpers if you wanted holes so bad...

they are 2 little holes on my front bumper already and they gave me a front bumper bracket.

yobri, wat's a SB?

I don't want to have my front bumper drilled if I don't have to. Could you please advise what do I have to do?

SB = Super Black.

Well, off the top of my head there are two quick options:

The first is CourtesyParts Zee Bracket that may require drilling small virtually non-visible holes in the grill

http://www.courtesyparts.com/Merchan..._Code=ZEE-BRCT

And the second is an offering from StrictlyZ which is a License Plate holder that attaches to the front tow hook

http://www.strictlyz.com/customer/ho...84a4bd2b1eab91

Just don't do the drilled holes. Are the existing holes that you have now simply dimples? Or are they bona fide holes that you can pour something like water into?

LOL....no offense but I'm used to reading CS, SS, DB & PPW.

Thanks for the links..I'll look it up. Could you please post the front bumper view of your car?

I have to check the little holes again...I don't think they are just dimples.

Thanks John. I'm enjoying every minute driving it or even sitting in it. I received lots of compliments from coworkers today. I had to take them out for a spin 1 by 1. My MPG reading is only 19. Is this normal for a new Z under 200 miles?

When I pulled into the parking lot yesterday, my neighbor who owns a Blue TT came down and gave me a nice compliment. He was so excited to see the car (smiling big) and I offered him to exchange our cars for a spin after my break-in period, he said yes almost instantly. and i think he was shivering too.... As I was walking back to my apartment, he was still standing there admiring the car.

Congrats on the new ride. Be sure to come out and meet up with us sometime. And in regards to the bumper- don't let them drill holes. I didn't have a choice.

Z-incognito- welcome to you as well.

As with fail, I didn't have a choice either. And Sweaty, the holes are just about the same diameter is a dime, so these holes are big a$$

Don't do it, the description that I just provided should suffice in lieu of a pic... trust me.

What????? Are you serious? Mine are only about 3/8 and I can't stand them. If they were the size of a dime I would have been bitching up a storm at the dealership.

A tad smaller than the diameter of a dime, but yes, they are pretty darn close... the little white clip that they put in to hold the screw looks deceivingly thin, but it isn't.

I bitched up a storm about the holes and the marks that the front plate holder made when the screws that hold the plate to the holder were too long and gouged the paint of the bumper. So I not only had two f*ckin' large holes in the bumper, but I had a pair of gouges to match.

They were willing to fix the gouges, but not the holes... they took me all around the dealership showing me every single car that they had, and all had plates many of which were drilled too.

They also made claims that people would come back to them expecting that the front plate violation tickets be paid by the dealership. Then they also said, "if you had made arrangements with us, we could have probably accommodated your request."

Then I'm thinking, why the hell would I ever conceive to believe that you would drill holes the (diameter) size of "fat crayons for little kids" in the bumper....

Learn from this experience future Z buyers.

Hey guys, I just picked up my 2004 SB enthusiast last night with 7 miles on it and I am only getting 16 mpg avg. And I'm not taking it over 4 grand or giving it more than half throttle at any time. You think this is normal?

Congrats on the new rides and welcome to the forum.

I don't have drilled holes, but then again, her bra is always on so I never see full frontal view. It only depresses me when I take off her bra and see the minor chips and scratches.

Blue-I think your efficiency is normal. I don't pay much attention to my fuel consumption because I think it's inaccurate to begin with. I play w/ the computer everytime I drive down I-5 just to see how much I'm consuming at an avg. speed of 85mph and the display consistently shows a number between 22.3 to 27.1 mpg. If anything, the DTE read is more important for my use.
