I won't make this event either. Went to register and the $125 no longer applies since it's less than 3 weeks away. I said f'it.

Regarding heel/toe, I would not worry about this technique until you have practiced enough threshold braking(braking hard to the point of ALMOST engaging abs)
If you're focusing on this now, you'll take away attention from proper corner entry/exit and getting the car slowed down smoothly.
If you can do it naturally, go for it. If it takes away from other aspects of your driving, wait until you have those aspects worked out.

What the point in heel/toeing like a pro if you can't throw the car into turns and exit as needed?

Just my 2cents

www.speedtrialusa.com Oct 3 Buttonwillow is still open. Only $150. Nothing beats practice if you want to get better. They also have instructors and a beginner school. Pchio and I are going along with 8 others from the bay area. I would really like to see more Z's out there.

Should've been in Solo2. Solo1 was mixed w/ the driving school so some of the ppl were pretty slow.

I need to work on the heel-toe technique. really sucking at it or too concentrated into the braking that I don't downshift until after the turn or brake, downshift, more brake. Definitely slowing me down.
Just keep practicing regularly on your daily commute. Do it everytime when you downshift, braking. Once you get the feeling, it will just come naturally.

any of u recorded any track vids on thunderhill? Kinda want to see the driving lines from other Zs.

Here's my fastest lap so far (also posted in the track subforum but not many ppl checks that post): http://vimeo.com/6353074
Kinda mediocre time. I saw someone post a time of 2:04:xx w/ the 350Z .

Things I notice:
Turn 5, wacky downshift then brake 'cus lack of skill/confidence of heel toe.
Turn 8, probably can have better entering speed?
Turn 14 turn in too early, and had to downshift between 14-15 'cus lack of heel-toe.

Tell me what can be improved.

Zettahertz,

No video here but I have a few suggestions.
As I posted previously, I wouldn't worry about heel/toe too much for now. Instead worry about getting your down shifts in properly ie: T3, T10.
Try entering T3 in 3rd.
Down shift to 3rd at T10, your missing some exit speed there.
You might also want to try entering T2 a bit further to the right so that you can keep more of a constant radius instead of having to turn more mid corner and overload your outside front tire. You want to pinch the inside as you see the outside exit shoulder.
T8 is tricky to get right because of how fast it is. Turn in needs to be earlier than one thinks. This will put you on the shoulder on exit.
Remember to go slow where you need to, cyclone, T11 and T14.

Your driving is good, now it's a matter of getting more seat time and learning the track better. You'll probably lower your lap times quite a bit in the next few trips there.

Hope this helps and others can chime in; We all have different driving styles.

Scott, that exhaust sounds so good. I have a Fast Intentions on the way(still stock) and now I'm having second thoughts. Is your car's ECU flashed to raise the rev limiter?

Thanks. That's the MD single with the XYZ pipe, NISMO headers, and stock cats. It is reflashed above the limited, but I don't know how far to be honest, as I've never found it. I typically shift by 6800RPM though. At T-hill, I only get pinched at start/finish at the top of 4th. At Laguna Seca I have just enough 4th gear heading into turn 2, but get pinched at the top of 3rd heading into 10.

You're welcome! I'm glad it may help! I feel like I only get it right about every third time, but when you do you know it. If you carry enough speed to use all the runoff, it's surely a butt pucker!

Nice, snatched that Lotus ;P

I'll have to hear the exhaust in person this Saturday... my audio isn't working on the video for some reason.

Yeah, there is something special about scooping up purposely-built track cars on the track. I won't be driving my 350 tomorrow - I'll have the 300. Here are two more clips though:
