Default DIY switchblade key fob, where you got ur key cut?

Hey All,

As some of you know or have already did this DIY switchblade keyfob. I wanted to ask where did you go in the bay area to get the key cut? I have tried a few places but they turned me down. I have gotten one key cut at a locksmith but it didn't work so i had to trash the key. I am just acquiring where you have gone with a good success that they can cut the key right.

Thanks

I used to work at a Lowes store a while back (2nd job for mod money). Some places turn you down because they are to dumb to understand that the cartridge to cut the key is the same one they would use on a non switchblade key.

I went to Home Depot. Make sure you take out the chip because no one will do it with the chip present. You will still get some resistance but they have a machine that check for the chip. Since you dont have the chip, you can press them to test it. Mine was done after I proved this.

^

I never checked, I guess I was a bad employee

The only keys I turned down were the "Do Not Duplicate" ones.

I went to an ace hardware and they couldn't do it because they said i had a chip, then i went to homedepot and they said the round part of the blade doesn't fit their machine so they couldn't do it. I just got the run around each time and i finally went to a lock smith and he screwed it up. So i just wanted to find a place that will do it without all the non sense.

i will take out the chip next time on my key and say it doesn't have one.
