I don't like it either, but it is one of the few things left I can do. I am going to make an air dam out of ABS as well. I am waiting for clarification if we can actually run a splitter the length of the OEM Nismo one...without having the bumper. If so, I will get more creative. I still have an ultrashield to put in the pass seat and few other little things to button up before the Dixie Tour in a couple of weeks.
Goal is to get the car to 2950 before the event (still could shave another 20-30lbs off and be legal). Once it warms up I plan to move on to (4) 18x12's with 315's. The fact that the D.C. Pro is so early is the main reason for sticking with 285's for now. It will be cold at that event and the surface sucks. With CCW's I can make it so the car gains no width in the rear with the 18x12's, but the front is another story. It will be almost 2 inches wider than with the current set-up. Not ideal, but I want the grip.
We get the good E85 (summer blend) in June...that is when the car will be retuned with bigger injectors/pump.
So...by the Toledo and Peru events it should be 2940ish, 285-290whp, full aero, and dialed in on the 315's. Should be fast. I've got a lot of fast people clamoring to drive it.
It will be a course dependent car....anything with lots of wiggles (i.e. west course at Nationals) will be a problem with the E36's and S2k's around. Get some slow speed/acceleration stuff mixed in and the 350 and C4's will be tough.

It was my first time auto crossing and it was fun. I will go next round too. I only got 3 rounds because my buddy that went with me said its usually 3 rounds. We missed the 4th round, but it's okay. I didn't do too good during my first time, but maybe next time it will be better! hahaha
I run staggered setup.
10.5 with 315 rear. 9.5 with 295 in front
I ran XP due to my rear Coilovers not being SP legal. My car was right in there with fastest SM and SP cars. Z even beat a bunch of prepared and modified class cars
I like the new Good years. Very forgiving tire

Yes for autocross that's not unusual. 9.5 is minimum width on tire specs too. while not ideal it does provide more grip than a narrower tire. I have tried smaller tire up front.
I am looking for 10.5 inch front and 12 inch rear wheels but then I will go to 315 front and 335 rear. Never can have too much tire in ax.
For track I go to 285 in front and 295 rear on same size wheels.

Sorry I missed you. If you are new to autocross it's always helpful to have instructor ride with you and for you to ride with instructor. I'd be happy to give you a ride if you're out there in future. I running with XP run group with UFO this year. Just find me on grid.

I do have a video of one of your runs from my cell phone camera, it's not a great video quality though...You might have seen me or my Z there. I was in my 08 PPW Z with gold Volk LE37T wheels...
Here is the video Shamu. Let me know if the link works.
