Default Why don't we have more active Z community in Bay Area?

I'm a long time Porsche guy and we have very active Porsche clubs in bay area. We have 4 club chapters in bay area that have monthly autcrosses, concourses, rallies, track and time trail events, etc.

Curious why we don't have a stronger Z club in SF Bay area? Seems to me we could have at least one chapter in South Bay and Santa Cruz area? Have Z focused autocrosses and a few track days.

What am I missing? Seems like we have ton of 350z, 370z, 300 Z, 280, 260 and 240z drivers in this area. Yet there doesn't seem to be much going on?

I'd be willing to volunteer on AX. Would love to do all Z rally of some kind too.

Maybe I'm missing some club here? Are different generations of Z owners not united in love of these cars? Just seems wierd that in Nor Cal we wouldn't have more going on?

Is there a national z club? With insurance etc for events that would be open to local chapter?

Or would we need to start something completely new? Always easier to build off established club.

was an Audi guy then a Scion guy then a Z guy then an Audi guy. Each car has enthusiasts who are really invested and who have meets. They may just not meet through the sites you visit. Might need to just search more.

The national Z club is Z Car Club of America (ZCCA). As far as I know, there are NO affiliated ZCCA clubs in Northern California. I think Group Z in SoCAL may be a ZCCA member.

In NorCAL, the biggest (and oldest) club is Z Owners of Northern California aka Z.O.N.C. (http://www.zonc.org). Z.O.N.C. is an incorporated nationally known club. There is a competition portion of the club, but overall it's activity level is low. Z.O.N.C. has their own insurance for club events .. including "performance type events".

There is also BayZa (Bay Area Z Association) .. they can be found at 3ZC.com .. while they do some events, they're mostly an internet club.

As a recommendation .. if you're interested in AutoX .. go to classiczcars.com .. head over to the Western Region forum. Quite a few s30 (240-280Z) types autoX there .. you'll probably see a thread on the topic.

A lot of Z's tend to go for looks (hellaflush) rather than actually tracking the car. So most of them don't bother joining into clubs or anything.

And then you have a bunch of Z's that don't even realize there's a community behind the car.

Porsche guys don't have more money. Lol. Most of us guys at autocross events drive under $15k cars. The wine and cheese crowd drive expensive cars but they rarely do AX.

It's just weird that z community here doesn't do monthly autocross or track events?

I actually don't even have a Z yet, but I'll have one soon enough.

(that's if my plans aren't ruined by someone who manages to convince me to get a G35 instead)

Oh and I will be one of those guys who just go hellaflush and never track it. so LOL.
