So I got pulled over a few days ago for having my driver and passenger side window tinted and it turned out to be a cop that knew what else to look for. He also got me for loud exhuast, illegal intake and having no cats. So I got a sticker on the back of my ticket that says I have to take it to state referee to get it approved and I cant drive my car on any public roads until then. Well problem is that I sold my cats and now I need a set desperately. I just finished taking off my whole exhaust and test pipes and am planning on putting the stock exhaust back on but I need to borrow/rent a set of cats just to pass the state ref. Is there anyone out there in the bay area that can let me borrow/rent there cats just to pass the test? It would be greatly appreciated. I actually did the same for another member on here who was in the same situation. I let him borrow my cats just to pass smog.

 

if my cats weren't for an HR id let you use them. They are just sitting in my garage.

if you don't end up finding cats you can just pay the $500 fine and you don't have to take any parts off your car.

 

If you want to pull mine and put them back on, and have a place to do this plus keep my car safe while its catless, you're more than welcome. I might wanna throw headers on when you pull the cats is the catch.

I have JWT pop charger intake but I dont have the sticker and I have the motordyne TDX V1 and it just happens to have a little leak which makes it even louder and I have non-resonated test pipes. That makes for an extremely loud combo

 

wow i didn't know bay rea cops will go under a slammed car to check for cats.. inst JWT legal ?? also motor-dyne is no no??

so even if u have a legal exhaust like HKS ,do i have to carry papers to show its legal?

ya I got unlucky enough to get pulled over by a cop that knows way too much for his own good. . . I was sure that he would not be able to figure out I had test pipes cause my car is like 3 inches off the ground but he went under and just barely saw the test pipes and knew right away what they were. . . JWT is legal but you have to have the carb sticker next to it... I might try to call JWT and get one. . . I think your okay with any aftermarket exhaust unless it just makes too much noise . . . then they can get you. . . but honestly I just got the worst luck

I live in the bay area and got as spare set of cats laying around for an 03.. if they work on your car I'll let you borrow them free of charge mainly because I feel your pain because I got popped for the same thing a couple months ago

the gains of test pipes over reputable hi-flow cats are near negligible now a days anyway so why bother? just get hi-flow cats.

Yes Im glad im a part of this forum because it has helped me out numerous times. . . milez921 03 was nice enough to let me borrow his. . .I plan to pick them up this weekend and try to get the state ref out of the way by next week . . . I have a set(03 DE). How long would you need them for? you can leave something as a warranty and you can use them(had borrowed shiat to people on this forum before and never gotten it back -___-). no need to pay me or anything.
