another run-in with the law
So I'm on Homestead Road tonight, around 11:30pm, coming home from my favorite Jack-in-the-Box, when the car next to me, an old Buick, slows down. We were only going 35mph, so I wonder what the heck's going on. Then I see the sign, and it says 25mph (which had me confused, because Homestead, IIRC, is at least a 30mph road). Sure enough, there was a cruiser behind me. So I kept it at 25mph, and the cruiser started creeping up on me.
I get close to San Tomas, where I need to make a right turn to go home, so I signal my intention to turn. That's when the lights go on. I was not happy. But I was sure that I had been going 25mph the entire time as soon as the Buick had slowed, so I began to think of recruiting a lawyer.
The Santa Clara Police officer comes up, and didn't seem to be trying to intimidate me. He asked me for my license, and then starts talking into his radio. That's pretty unusual, so I start getting confused. Then he asks me, politely but firmly, to put my hands on my steering wheel while he checks out my VIN. That's when I was sure something was weird.
He handed my information back to me and begins by letting me know that I didn't do anything wrong (which was nice of him, actually), and that the reason he'd stopped me was because there had been a report of a PPW 350Z stolen today. The report had been made from San Jose, but the car had last been seen near Santa Clara.
And immediately I started wondering if it had involved anybody on this board. I thanked the officer for taking care of the Z community, and he gave me a smile and complimented the car. Now that's the way I like to see our tax dollars at work.

Get a V1 Bruce... at least you'll have a better gauge if you're being followed for speed.
As far as the stolen PPW, wonder if it was stolen with keys or hot-wired thus by-passing the need for the programmable chip

I live in rohnert park and got pulled over the other day giving my buddy a ride in my Z. I have to admit though I was being stupid and speeding but I was lucky enough to get away with a warning. I learned my lesson. Keep it on the track
I got stopped a while ago in Mountain View (Castro to be exact, getting my pearl milk tea LOL) for not having a front license plate. I was pretty much singled out because half the population in the area didn't have a front plate
I guess I shouldn't get too mad, fix-it ticket isn't as bad as a speeding ticket.
Z's are like cop magnets.

Ive noticed that since the weather has gotten better Almaden right after Foxworthy by the 100 station going South. Just as you get over the hill for Capitol expsswy there is an island on the right. Watch out there has been bikes and cruisers on the side with radar until dark. Keep an eye out. that area used to be clear but i see alot of them now.
