Default Argh! F*ck*n Vandals!

So, I am joining the ranks of the violated this evening.

Someone stole my freakin ANTENNA.

Not only did they steal it, they BROKE it OFF at the threadded shaft.

I was parked down town in Santa Rosa in the Barnes & Noble parking lot.

Now I have to get an EasyOut and pull the fargin threads out, and get a new antenna.

I think I am gonna get one of those minis, and pop it off, like suggested recently.

I wanna find a good powered internal antenna, to mount somewhere in the cabin, and just put a cap or very small mini on the back... maybe even epoxy it in, just to cover the hole.

That really sucks. What were the idiots doing at B&N...they probably can't even read. Any vandalism is totally stupid and the perps should have their hands smashed. At least they didn't do anything to the paint.

I thought you already had a shorty?

I don't think it's retarded at all. It'd **** me of if some vandals scratched the paint or dented the car in the process of removing a $30 antenna. And you know they'd try to get it off really fast so there's a good chance they will scratch or break something in the process. So it's not so much to protect the antenna from getting stolen, but to protect the car from getting damaged.

"HAD" being the operative word here, Bill... thats the one they stole.

Well, I was just able to borrow an easy out tool from my neighbor at work, and removed the threadded stud that the idiots broke off in there.

Now I'm back to the stock one.

I am researching a powered antenna made by Metra, that mounts to the interior glass (either front or rear window) and its a film ... kinda like a sticker. There is a little black control box, looks to be an inch or so square. The rest of the antenna just sticks to the window.

Similar to this:

Neurosis,
For one thing, Nissan should never have had an external antenna on the Z. Why couldn't they just stick to something like what you posted?

After searching, the only real thing I can come up with is this:

Its placed either on the windshield, or the back glass on the top... and can even be mounted under plastic trim pieces. The above film antennas I have found were only for TV reception.

This "Hidden" antenna is used in the custom hot rod scene a lot, where they don't want an antenna on the outside of they '32 Ford, or '57 Chevy ... its said that its as effective as a 31" steel pole antenna.

I think I am gonna give something like this a try, and just get a super small "Nub" antenna to locktite to the outside one. Just to cover the hole.

sorry to hear bout your antenna.
i wouldn't suggest the locktite route tho, cuz the stupid kid might get pissed and key your car when they get frusterated and can't get the little antenna.

I thought about maybe machining a flat cap for the outside ... then you couldn't even get yer hands on it. It'd just be something to cover the hole anyway.

Besides... if they do major damage, thats what my insurance is for $50 deductable's are nice.
