Default Exhaust too loud ticket

I was driving to work, minding my own business the other day. It was a friday... couple of weeks ago. It was chilly out but nice, I was looking forward to the weekend. I was relaxed so I was cruising around and not even speeding.

Out of nowhere a cop decides to ruin my Friday, as I turn to head into the research park at UCF. Long story short, after all kinds of kinds of scare tactics they gave me about all the tickets I could have received, they gave me a warning for the speed. But also an actual ticket for my exhaust being too loud.

They didn't use a decibel meter to measure the sound, and all the ticket said was "exhaust too loud". I have a top speed pro-n1 exhaust with DC Sports headers, and a Nismo CAI, so the set up is pretty rambunctious.

Does anyone think I should try an fight this?

IF so...I got a couple of things going for me I checked the county code at http://library.municode.com/index.as...eName=Florida:

1.) The cop did not use a decibel meter to measure my sound. The "measurement of sound section" Sec. 15-183 said that:
(a) Sound shall be measured with a sound level meter.

2.) It said under the exemptions section... Sec. 15-185.
- Exemptions: (10) Motor vehicles operating on a public right-of-way subject to F.S. § 316.293, and applicable federal criteria; (I checked right of way on the site, and it just means road).
So if I am interpreting that correctly it says vehicles on roads are actually exempt.

So has anyone got a tickt for this? Anyone beat it? Or do you have any general advice?

Thanks!

Well I finally had the hearing last week. It took them almost 6 months to set it for whatever reason.

So I got worked. Turns out the items I cited above are "ordinances" and I got hit with a "statute", so everything I was sayng was irrelevant.
Furthermore thecop basically told the judge he was cutting me a break by only writing me an exhaust ticket, and not a speeding ticket. I could tell that really resonated with the judge, and pretty much nothing I could have said would get that ticket overturned.
There were 8 total cases being tried with me.
Only 4 of the cops showed up, so the four other cases got dismissed.
Despite having the pay the original fine, plus $30 court fee, plus an extra $30 cause the judge thought I was a dick, I would still try to take it to court again if I had to, because 50% of the tix were dismissed since the cop didn't show up. That's worth the risk to me....

I've never had a problem with my test pipes and greddy cat-back of course I don't live over by UCF either. I noticed when I lived over that way cops loved handing out tickets to modded cars. My Audi A4 was catless when I lived over there but it's not a car that they look out for so I got away with it being like that for a few yrs.
