I have a safety check plate on the lower portion of the bumper, down by the exhaust tip. Its pretty down there, cant see it unless your downlow or pretty far back.

As dsmal mentioned, you can get a "2 sticker plate" or "3 sticker plate" at Eurosport or any of the Tuning shops here. Attached that under the rear bumper.

Here's a pix of what I mean:

The 2 stickers that you see above are the Safety Check stickers. The "numbered" one is the month the safety check was issued. The other one is the actual safety check sticker.

For those who mod their cars, there's a 3rd sticker with an "R" on it for Recon.

thanks, but what exactly does a safety check consist of? how often do you have to get them? in cali, we have to get smog certified every few years, but thats it. we don't have state-ordered "safety checks".

The Safety Check is an annual thing here in Hawaii. It consists of inspecting tire wear, lights, tint, muffler noise, suspension work, and availability of No Fault Insurance. No smog check.

Depending on how **** the station is you can count on windshield wipers too (I've never had anyone check suspension or muffler). The only good thing about us is the NO SMOG!!!

Hehehe, they only check if your car looks lowered and sounds louder than stock . They then fail you for not having Recon

If you use tape, do you have any suggestions for a brand/type that will last?

Gotta get a safety check soon so I'm starting to think about this now.

Thanks!

you should take a razor blade and slice up the stickers so that if people try to peal them they cant. mine is on my bumper but i cant complain, since it shouldnt have passed and that is where they put it.

The plates come with double sided tape already on them. Mine has been on for 6 months with no problems.

OK, thanks for the info! I saw what looked like tape but it didn't seem like it would be enough, so I thought I'd ask you guys what actually works.

It works real good... I mounted mine in the center of my bumper and the safety check guy told me I had to move it to the right side... I unstuck it from the center and moved it and it stayed sticky as all hell. If worse comes to worse, you can always drill two holes in your bumper to mount the bracket (it has holes in it), but I wouldn't suggest it.
