Unhappy SOB Hit and Run!!!!

I'm so freakin pissed right now. I just got my Z fixed (front and rear bumpers) and last night I got rear-ended. as I was heading to the 24hr fitness on kapiolani this b!tch in a POS geo metro in the right lane tries an impossible cut over into my lane. and I guess b/c she was pissed that she couldn't make it, she decides to get on my *** right after I pass her and ends up hitting my rear-end. so I pull right over to exchange info and the stupid MF drives off like nothing happened. I would've given chase but I would've had to back out into busy traffic and she would've been long gone by the time that happened. I got her lic plate number and a good description of her car, and I made a police report which pretty much just means a "leaving the scene of an accident" ticket for her. but if she tried to run away that probably means she doesn't have insurance, which means she probably doesn't have money, which means it'll be a waste of my time to try to get it out of her in small claims court. on the bright side the damage is pretty minor and I can probably get my body shop to just refinish and repaint the bumper AGAIN...I can't believe this crap. makes me consider just getting rid of the thing and getting a POS so I don't have to worry about it if it gets hit...although with my luck the POS probably wouldn't ever get so much as a door ding. I don't think I have the heart to take pics and post em...

Crap dude, I know how you feel. A few days after I got my car, I was at work, when I came out, I noticed someone had hit my rear. Real bummer since you just got it repainted.

yeah...some people just don't have any respect for other ppls property. this one time I came out of a club to find a note on my car that was from someone who saw some a$$hole hit my car and drive away, I thought that was actually pretty cool of the person who wrote the note cause they wrote the guys license plate down and even gave me their phone number if I needed them to be a witness. funny thing was that my car at the time was already kinda beat up so I didn't even care. so I guess there are some decent ppl out there.

BTW, what Nationality was she? I have my theory on that one .

I hope what goes around comes around...I mean she'll get that ticket which basically means she'll have a 7pt ticket which no one will want to insure her with, but who knows I didn't really catch a good look at her, but she looked darker skinned, possibly pacific islander ancestry (is that p.c.?) with ehu type hair (kinda like how you see the girls make their hair for hula competitions). most women I know aren't the greatest drivers in general (which there is actual scientific evidence for based on ability to judge spacial distances) but this lady was way beyond just poor driving...I'm more than certain she would've gotten a reckless driving ticket if a cop had seen the way she was pushing her way around the road.

Sorry to hear about your hit-and-run. I just saw your pics of your front being fixed.

My CS coupe was involved in a hit and run when it was 2 months old. Other car probably reversed very hard into my driver's side door. (Had to get it replaced.) No witnesses so...no recovery.

My friends on this forum can tease me about my driving (two hands on the steering wheel) ...but at least I don't hit anyone (intentionally). I have ehu hair, but I don't drive no POS. And...I'm not of polynesian ancestry.

I hope everything works out well for you. I'm like Frank. I believe in "What goes around, comes around". She'll get her day...

alohaz-thanks for the empathy...I'm assuming your a woman based on your response and I definately don't think all women are poor drivers or anything, maybe just the ones I know but at least I can find some comfort in that it seems like most of us Z owners on here have had at least one inccident where our cars were violated

Sorry to read about your rear end. Yah, that area is crazy. You got cars coming from all over the place. I would have chase the car down. I mean where could she have gone? There's like 4 fricken traffic lights before Piikoi/Kapiolani. after that you got two long lights at Ward and Beretania.
Hope you get your sharp car fix soon!

z'up-thanx... I still didn't want to try to turn around or reverse out of the parking lot ramp, guys are always turning in there and I didn't want to risk another accident. besides, if the girl was willing to run, then it wouldn've have done me much good to chase her down. it'll do more damage to her now that she'll get a leaving the scene ticket than I would've been able to do... I probably would've ended up getting myself put in jail for doing something stupid if I did chase her down (not beating her down or anything, probably for putting a few dents in her car) I guess it was a good thing my gfriend was there yelling at me to calm down and just call the police. I don't think I can afford to get my car fixed for a while though

You don't want to chase people down in case you wind up running a little old Japanese lady or something. Manslaughter is not a good thing to have on your record.

I hate Oahu downtown driving. One ways with no left turns everywhere (but people still do), crappy intersection design, overflow traffic on city streets from H1 onramps, etc. If you're in the wrong lane and miss a turn, you have to circle around whole blocks to try again. Too many people live in that town for the streets to handle it well, and the higher population means an increased chance of encountering a bad driver like the lady you met.

well i've got something with really big vans. not even a week i had my Z a guy reversed into me while my car was at the audio shop parking lot. two months later parked on the side in a neighborhood where i was working one more giant van reversed into me AGAIN. the first was the rear second was the front. the rear wasn't too bad just a small dent but the front i had to replace entire bumper driver side fender and head light. luckily the shop workers saw the guy, kept him there till i came back. the second guy knew the owner of the house that i was working at so he had to stay. and the good news was at least i didn't pay anything for all of this.

dream-yup...oahu traffic is getting worse everyday. but if ever do move back to an outer isle I don't know that I'd keep my Z. theres just not enough (decent) road out there to make full use of a sports car...I'd probably just go back to Toyota Trucks although maybe maui's different....on kauai almost the whole island is 1 lane each way so no matter what, you'll be stuck behind someone...I guess that fits the laid back atmosphere. I wish the local lawmakers would put some heavy laws into effect to catch ppl who are driving w/o insurance...that'll help get some stupid ppl and unnecessary vehicles off the road.

Maui has a few long multi-lane roads if you go towards the east side of the island (Haleakala Highway, a couple highways to/in Kihei) and most of the main roads in town are multi-lane. There are a few twisty roads if that's your thing, but they're all single lane. There's nothing like H1 where you have miles of freeway to speed on.

mmm...maybe if they ever get this interisland ferry thing going I/we should do an outer island tour of the islands...that would be crazy...instead of just doing your standard oahu cruise, actually ferry-ing over a whole bunch of Z's and doing a big island or maui cruise...that would be crazy

That's how it is man, at anytime anybody can hit you and drive-off like nothing happened and then you're stuck with a big-a$$ bill just because whoever hit you spent their insurance money on crack that month! It sucks!

This topic came up a about a month ago, while hanging out with fellow Z owners. We are definitely doing this ferry to the neighbor islands. I hope it happens...soon.

That'd be cool. I never had a chance to hang with car clubs when I was a kid because, well, I never had my own car

update- so my accident happened on 08/04/05 and all the cop gave me were some scribbles on a scratch paper and he told me that I might have to show up to court, I didn't even get a copy of an accident report. I still didn't hear anything from anyone regarding the accident today so I've been emailing back and forth with someone at HPD which wasn't getting me anywhere since he was basically just telling me to talk to my insurance co (which won't be able to do squat for me since I have a $500 ded which the damage probably doesn't exceed, and even if it was over $500, it isn't worth making a claim). so I finally called someone at HPD and they said the case was closed, meaning they found the driver of the other vehicle (hurray!!!), but if I want to find out any more information, then I need to go down to HPD records and get a copy of the accident report. who the hell has time for that? I work all day through sat and then I leave for a trip on sunday which means I won't have time to go get the report till the end of the month. all I really want to know is who the hell hit me and who she has insurance with so I can make the claim...damn. sorry to b!tch guys...it just sucks that I have to take more time out of my schedule b/c of some irresponsible a$$hole and b/c HPD won't tell me any of the info I should've been able to get right after the accident. meanwhile my car looks messed up...

Hey showstoppertk,

I saw your Z tonight in Mapunapuna. Couldn't see the damage (maybe because it was dark).

When my 300ZX was involved in a hit and run, my insurance co. pursued HPD to get the other driver's info. (no charge). They even wrote to the Chief of Police because the responding officer didn't return their call. Eventually, the other driver's insurance co. called me and got a statement from my witness, and they paid for my repairs. Your insurance co. should be able to help you resolve this...without charging you anything.

Good luck!
