$170 for cat install...
I just recently bought redline350zz's crawford high flow cats (thanks again bryan) and I've been meaning to put them on, however I'm at the mercy of whenever my friend is available since its a two man job, plus he has the tools and a garage. but just for ***** and giggles I thought I'd email vakamon to see what they'd charge for the install and this is the msg I got back
"thanks for the inquiry. installation of the crawford cat is $170. it's approx. 2-3 hour job to complete."
haha...you've got to be kidding me. I mean I know its not the easiest install, especially getting to those top bolts, but 2-3 hrs w/ a lift and air tools? you've got to be sh!tting me right? I'll bet I can get this done in the same time or less at my friends place on ramps and hand tools. I've got nothing against vakamon, in fact they seem like pretty cool guys, but $170 is crazy. I've seen mainland shops charge 1/2 hr or $50 for that install.

i did it myself w/ air tools and a lift. took about an hour. getting to the top bolts are hard, BUT last time i was working w/ my mechanic and he used a LONG extension and did the top bolt from the engine bay. seemed pretty easy that way, just need a long extension. and i think its a 14mm or 17mm

yeah, I got them in. it was def more of a PITA than I thought it would be. I thought I had everything I needed and knew what I had to do, but it was a little more involved. I even forgot to put antiseize on the screws in the process so I guess they are staying on there for good. hows you Z running bryan?
