so I also heard that the trail to blue pool is a no go right now b/c the trail goes through private property and the owners aren't letting anyone pass. is that true? I can understand why landowners wouldn't want people walking through their yards all day, however some sort of public access should be available. I mean its not the landowners private waterfall...

But it is the landowner's land. You live in Hawaii, so you've probably heard about all the litter and enviromental damage that comes from having hundreds of people stomp across your property on the way to some popular site. There's also the potential legal liability for any injuries.

so I just got back from my maui trip on monday. all in all it was pretty good. we checked out the waihee valley trail the first day; the swinging bridges and pool at the end were cool. we checked out paradise bluz that night but it was dead. sat we hit hana and damn if that isn't a hellish drive (in a full minivan), but I bet it'd be crazy fun if you could close it off and drive your Z on it. we checked out some lava caves, the black sand beach, hamoa beach, and oheo gulch. I also jumped the bridge over the 7 sacred pools and messed my back up a little. I didn't see many chicks and I think I only spotted one silver track Z on the drive from kahului to lahaina (parked right along that long a$$ surf break). Da Kitchen sucked, Hana Ranch Restaurant was pretty good, and Kimo's was so so IMO. oh and I never had any run in's with the hana locals. thanks again to the maui folks for the info.
