Another retard question. All I have is just bolt-ons and I'm burning fuel like crazy. Should I tune my car or wait it out until I finally get a turbo?

wait it out unless money isnt an issue. money saved can go towards getting the turbo

Seth
Wich is 2 prices. One for the tuneing that includes Dyno and just Dyno pulls no tune. Most every one that realy havnt had their cars tuned could benifit from the tune unless you are getting a base line. It will be acouple of hours easy for the tune session but they can squeze out the HP from your mods that you put on. This also means you will need some sort of method to tune it (eg, osiris, EU, UTEC, etc. But not any HKS because I dont think Sonics is a licensed HKS tuner.)

On a side note I do recomend to Seth that he look at investing in OSIRIS. You can tune ANY VQ with out the use of an aftermerket EMS. It will flash the ECU thats in the car and it uses laptop to tune through the OBD2 port. So you just need the laptop to tune. It will benifit the guys that have bolt-ons but no EMS that want to make the most of their setupor even an Stock Z that just wants that little bit extra. You can raise the redline, remove speedlimiter, and adjust all the extra bits and peices that are necessary to do the tune. I think you can even do multipe maps and it uses I think the cuise control switch to change them. I'll read up on it more.

yup your right it does use the cruise control to toggle in between maps. Im not sure, i thought base models dont have cruise control. btw i thought you would have to purchase a seperate license for every different z.

I havnt see that, I'll look. The more Im looking into it it may not be the way to go for the shop. You have to mail the data packets into the company and they build the map for you. So that wouldnt be verry economical for the shop due to time constraints. So yeah um maybe for the individual who doesnt want an EMS should get it, but the more I've looked into it not so much for a shop.

Yes, in order to switch maps you do need cruise control. So you would have to manualy switch. So in most cases a fairly knowlageable person with enough money should go for an EMS and a tune. The guy with intake and exhaust mods that doesnt want to spend alot of extra time and effort with the EMS, OSIRIS would look alittle more affordable.

Well Sonic is the premier VQ shop on island so it may not be that hard to get a groupbuy started to help with the cost of the software.
