Default Unmarked 5-O

Hey everyone, just a heads up on unmarked HPD cruisers. Spotted a black Mercury Marauder this morning with internal lights. Was headed on towards H2 from the merge. As far as I know, HPD doesn't have a whole lot of em, but they are out there. Watch your speed and stay safe all.

Default 5-0?

what color were the lenses on the lights? Was he or she in uniform? Personally I would not pull over for an unmarked vehicle, too many issues and the police know this. Back in the 80's there was a case of a missing female on the Pali. Witnesses stated that they saw her pulled over by an unmarked car. HPD will tell you to go to a public place or even call 911 to verify if the traffic stop is valid. Of course if you have a vehicle that attracts a busy bee, then you may get stung for real.

No tint on the car, but you can see the second light assembly by his center rear brake light. From what I saw, it was one of the clear lense w/ LEDs internally. Uniformed cop driving.

As for being pulled over, I've heard you're responsible for pulling over if they start flashing their lights. But calling 911 to confirm that it is actually an LEO is allowable, simply reduce speed and make your way towards the shoulder, just don't open your window or get out of the car until the officer's identity is confirmed by the 911 operator.

from my experience...I was pulled over by an unmarked vehicle, threatened and harrassed, made a complaint, and went through this long @$$ process on tryin to get that fool fired, either way long story short, when being pulled over by an unmarked vehicle, even if his lights are flashing, you do not have to pull over immediately, you have the right to put on your hazard ,indicating that you realized he is asking you to pull over, and drive to a public location.

You sure he wasn't just driving to or from work? We've done a bunch of those led interior strobe bars on Crown Vics, Marauders and 4 runners and they normally just leave it on the window if they're driving to or from work.....technically they can't pull you over without their roof light unless you're driving like a retard and being an endangerment to the public.....that's what my hpd friends said and for the cops that do pull you over without the roof light they're on a damn power trip

Well ya when I got pulled over, the cop was on a power trip....apparently he was doing a sting, I was in the area, when I left he followed me from vineyard to punchbowl ( on my way to church lol) and he pulled me over, threatened to take me life and began harrassin me tryin to find out what I was doing in the area....He had nothing on me, no speeding, no wreckless driving nothing, so after realizing that I was only in the area to use the public restroom before going to church he simply told me never return to the area again...he was an unmarked vehicle undercover liutenant....as I previously stated went through the complaint process filed a report against him, during the process I was told....you don't have to immediatly stop for an unmarked vehicle....turn your flashers on and proceed to a safe public location with lots of people...the verdict of my complaint, it was my word against his ( the witness that was behind the cop refused to comment anything he heard and saw) so he was proven guilty for misconduct but not enough evidence indicating his threats and harrasment....so I was SOL and pretty much they said that his chief would handle this issue...in other words nothing was done...

I know this was more than what was asked for, but I thought I would vent and share my experience with you guys.

^^^If he threatened your life and no action was taken you should take it to the newspapers and news stations. No one needs a nutcase like that running around with a gun.

I will not mention who has interior lights on their personal vehicles, needless to say it is alot. On this island HPD and state law enforcement/Sheriff are LEO's 24-7, off duty or not. Only under extreme circumstances should they be attmpting a traffic stop with out a markings i.e.( blue dome light or bar ON Top of vehicle(POV), or marked car ), WHILE OFF DUTY. If I chose not to pull over immediately, and do so at a later time. After I confirm thru 911 operator that the traffic stop is legit. Then the HPD/Sheriff may be more upset that I did not heed the call to pull over. I would simply explain that, for their safety and mine, I felt that pulling over at the nearest police station or place were it is well lit, and has plenty of witnesses, was the prudent thing to do. ( the last part I would leave out ). The officer should state the purpose of the stop and identify themselves. Uniform, badge, commission card. Remember as long as you are operating a vehicle in a safe manner, then the law has no reason to pull you over. Harrassment is another topic. There is always the exception.......the guy who does not know what OFF DUTY means??? Most of the guys I know would not even bother. Keep it legal and be safe.

I saw that Black Marauder thing morning on Queen Emma. Looks like he was taking his wife to work or something. But clear LED's were in plain view on his dash though...

So I've been told most marauder owners are pretty laid back and don't bother cars with no recon unless you're driving like a tard and speeding
