Default Hello from a new 350z owner (hopefully)

Just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. I'm Chris and I currently own a 2002 Protege 5 (for sale!) and am looking to get a 2005 350z, white, with only 7000 miles for $15k. I am hoping to get a response by today.

I have quickly browsed through this section of the forum and have to say, you guys have very nice Zs! I hope I can be thrown in the right direction when it comes to modifying the car.

Take care and I hope this is posted in the right section

Chris

Sheesh, I hate the wait to get an answer back on the car. It's agonizing!

I guess some things I would buy right off the bat:
JDM tail lights ( I saw some on sale I believe in this section )
Advan V2's ( black on silver) or any other 18" rims

Tein Basics or something for a simple drop

I saw that twin turbo setup for sale also

Peace,
Chris

Hello again. I tried searching forums and googling for information but came up with nothing after about 10 minutes. I figured I'll go straight to the experts.

-Are the 2005 headlights/tail lights interchangeable with the 2006+ models?

-Trying to look up correct rim sizes and offsets are really confusing. I have no idea if some specs listed as an aggressive offset or not. I don't want problems with rubbing. I'm so used to my 17x7 +50 offset! haha.

-Any reputable sites that you guys can list to buy Z parts? There are so many online, I have no idea where to start.

Thanks again in advance and excuse my incompetence haha.

as far as the wheels go what are you looking at form or function? dish or concave?
also if you plan to run BBK, the fronts and rear, your going to need to get the wheels with a high pad/disk to ensure clearance
350z fenders have a lot of room to play with, it is possible to go 10 wide in front (grip driver), but that will have to come with a high offset.
quick way to look at dish style rims
offset- positive offset=small dish, face of rim pushed out
negative offset=monster lip, face of rim goes inward

Someone on forums is selling advan2 in 18's. The offset would go pretty decent with the z

Yah, did you mean ForumsHawaii? My friend Justin is selling them. As I look at more and more rims, I see many 350z drivers are running 19s. That is so big! (IMO)

I think a BBK is nowhere near in my future, so in general, any type of rims. I did also see 19" volk GT-Vs on sale, something I haven't seen too much on Zs. Extra tires included with lug nuts too.

$3000 is a good price, but a little out of my price range atm.

A large lip on the rim would be nice, but I'm just pricing around. Some white Work Meisters on PPW would look nice too.

Sorry, I'm just fickle like that

Any idea on the headlight/tailight question?

Peace

I changed my 04 with 06 LED ones and they were just plug and play. So Im sure 05-06 will interchange.

For the rims, do some thread searching in the wheel/brakes forums I rember a thread in there talking about offsets. 11.5 is the largest in the back with out a BBK, the 10 up front needs the perfect offset and high camber to fit with out too much fender work. 9.5 up front will work with a 25mm offset. on the 9.5 you can get a 265-270 tire fairly easy but you will have a few mm of clearance. Nismo sport mag had a build they were doing on a 350Z and it was all about making it grip. They gave the offsets, tire sizes, and brands that fit their offset they were using. Check there. I;ll try to drum up the URL.

headlights and tailights are both an easy swap. i believe you may need to trim a plug a little bit to fit the 06 or JDM tails (I had to for the JDM ones) for the headlights if you already have HIDS (anything other then a base model) then the 06+ are a pretty easy swap. You need to trim one wire on one of the bulbs or something so the turn signal doesnt always stay on. other then that plug and play.

For my tail light swap i didn't need to do anything too. As for the headlight a wire was needed to be cut for the turn signal.

...if you have non-led lights, you will need to do some trimming on the JDM light connectors. You can trim the connectors on the car, but why ruin those? It's best to trim the ones on the lights.

I still have my JDM tails for sale, and the connectors already shaved.
