Safety check....Dead thread!
Daymn sorry to hear that bro. But Im glad I got mine when I did. That way I can get my car off the island. That was the only reason why I needed a safety. I plan on taking it easy with the car as to not draw attention in the next 2 weeks that I have the car in my posession before I ship it out on the 26th.
It seems its getting harder and harder to get a safety. Funny thing, the safety inspections were orginaly made because there were decades of people driving H-bombs (similar to Guam Bombs). They were causing more accidents then any thing else. There was an initiative that was passed to do a basic safety inspection on a vehicle to determine its road worthyness. Needless to say through the currupt government and a good plan gone astray, it has become an additional vehicle tax. So now you have your registration, annual tax, initial vehicle tax, initial road tax, and annual usage tax (safety check). With all that money you would figure they would funnel it into the road ways. Nope Hawaii is still in the bottom 5 of worst road ways in America.

I dont remember the name of the place where i went, but i think it was the king street (maybe) exit. There is a public storage place on teh corner of a street right before you can get onto h1 west. There is a gas station on the other side of the self storage place that is pretty shady. They passed me with Turbonetics, no cats, lowered, 10% tint, and my front plate was taped on with double sided tape 10 seconds before. Hope that helps a little. I would just drive around until you see a shady place.

It never occured to me that "our" spots were reserved and/or treated as classified info... Most of us know each other here, and we assist when needed. So the short answer to your question is... Cause we can, and we will. These built machines have to roll some way...
I hate to rain on anyones parade but if you have a spot for saftey check, don't blow it for others. Lets say you tell that 350z guy, then he tells his 240 friends, and then those 240 friends tell their Honda friends etc..
Im just saying.
Oh i have a spot.
I know where u can get safety check hook ups.
DPH Auto Repair
801 S Beretania St
Honolulu, HI 96813
Gotta bring down the car though, cant do sight unseen, ask for Aaron Murikami... And cost will be $30.
