I just got back from an amazing week in maui, and after driving on the road to Hana (from Kihei to Hana), I have to say,
Locals, I know why you get annoyed with tourists... I almost wanted to kill 10-15 myself..!!!
They were driving like 5 mph !! And on top of it, when a local came up behind them doing 20mph , they refused to get out of the way!! geeezus...
I made it a point to always let locals by, (you can tell since tourists, me included, rent either ford mustangs, minivans or jeep wranglers)...
also, I was driving like 30-45mph on that 20mph road, that mustang handles worse than a tricycle... it was amazing though, and I am seriously considering shifting to Maui... I had a blast
I have to say, Maui is unbelievable, I'm jealous of you guys who live there.

p.s. I saw two Z's while I was on the island... a black dropped really low with chrome wheels , and a white one with volks...

Nice. I have been wanting to take the Wife and Kids to Maui, as I too have been wanting to drive/see the road to Hana. You gotta post some more pics Bro! I know how you feel regarding peopes driving habits, I think the thing that pisses me off the most about this place is people cruising slow in the left lanes, and more often than not, beside the car to their right in the slow lane... If you get a chance, check out Kauai though, the roads aren't that great, but the sights are amazing, especially Waimea Canyon (which would be the perfect place to set up a cruise, or really give your suspension a work out with the twisty roads to and from the lookout, as well as the Na Pali coastline. You have see it by either boat or helicopter, but what a sight to see. Anyhow, curious to see more pics, take care...
Maui is the bomb. Go there all the time. We usually stay in Kaanapali then take the trip to Hana. That road is nuts but absolutely beautiful, twisties are fun and a chevy van. We stay here www.hale-ohia.com when we go. 100 acres of private rain forest, rivers, waterfalls and a 5000 sqft house. Its owned by a couple of hippies who rent it out, the guy's name is Wolf. If you get enough people it is very cheap.

wow nice pics. they just reopened the back side to go around Hana. bridge was out from the earthquake. Maui is Maui. if you live here it can kinda get boring. thats why we like to take a trip here and there to Oahu to get "away" and also remind us on how not busy maui is compared and appreciate more. funny, even for maui people hana can be like a totally different island. i would still feel like tourist there.
