Default Gonna go honeymooning there. Hello to the locals!

Hello I've been randomly searching and browsing through both here and Driver for ideas and getting the feel for the local enthusiast vibe. I recently got married early October. We have not gotten the opportunity to book our honeymoon yet. We are aiming for late Feb or mid March. HI is our dream destination. So after a dozen or so threads about where to go and what resort to stay at I would just like to say HELLO and be nice to us tourists from Jersey (southern not northern lol).

Our interests are but not limited to: drinking lol, sight seeing, romantic dinners, dinner cruise, luau.

My interests surfing, gotta at least see North Shore country. Maybe stay closer to there and just hang out at the beaches. I've actually been swimming 30-40mins a day and practicing holding my breath. Figured it will afford me 5 mins of paddling in HI. When I surf here it's cold. The water is low 50s now and it dishes out flat or head high+ along with the icecream headaches lol. It makes me hungry for proper HI waves, but in reality anything shoulder high+ freaks me out. Guess I'll be sitting on the beach most of the time. I enjoy checking out HI surf session reports on youtube lol.

I am Filipino by blood so I'd be open to seeing or eating at places where I could feel at home. I'm not sure if my skin color would help any or not but just throwing it out there. At least I won't be getting sunburn like the rest of the tourists lol. I'm English speaking, but understand basic tagalog.

Again thanks. I would like more ideas and suggestions by the local enthusiasts out there! I have never been more excited to go on vacation than this time...

Thanks guys. I can understand basic tagalog and of course da taglish lol. I know I have distant relatives there for sure lol. We went to a travel agent yesterday. Now it's just a matter of me finalizing some vacation time before we book the flights. I still think local knowledge is the most valuable in terms of surfing anywhere. I've never been there yet if I see a picture of a wave I could almost tell where it's from.

Do you guys like drifting? I figured they closed a popular track there not too long ago ya? Now it's only street racing and touge. Heard they put more catseyes and grippy pavement to discourage that type of thing, but truly there has got to be some type of underground.

Hoy gising! Lmao hey I'm Filipino too and there's a lot over here. Well actually I'm half. Haha btw you should hit up Waikiki. Thata where the tourist attraction is at. Nice stores, restaurants and especially the beach is just right there on the strip. So you should look into that.

Kamusta! Lol nice. The wifey is also mestiza. Jersey, Philly and NYC is also a huge melting pot. Maybe even moreso than HI. If we stayed on the North Shore say, Turtle Bay resort you think that would be too boring for more than a few days? The surfer/beach person in me says no, but the wife will appreciate the hustle and bustle of the south side. Not too far of a drive right? Perhaps a stay closer to town is better. Nothing is booked as of yet. I will keep searching through old threads.

So far the link/info has been helpful. Just wanna get a greater feel for it that's all. Thanks again.

Hawaii is an island, there is nothing here too far. I would say your looking at a 45min to 1hr drive from Northshore to Waikiki pending on traffic.
Here are few links with tourist attractions, pics, local and tourist view point, to help you on your search.

Thank you sir! I know I ran up on the first, fifth and sixth links you gave me on my own searches. I'm the adventurous type, she's more into shopping, dining and night life kinda things. I think you pretty much summed it up on Oahu. I'm also searching for Maui ideas too. I'd like a helicopter ride on either island. It seems like it's pretty easy to search on Maui as well. Cheers.

So how does a tourist like me show and receive da true aloha spirit? Any suggestions in day to day interactions? Here in Jersey we're all mean to each other. It's pretty cut throat here in the NE in general like the lineup at Pipe on bigger days lol.
