I bought the lens from Cameta Camera.

A reliable and trusted online retailer.

I compared several different prices online and Cameta Camera had the lowest pricing.

Yes, it was cheaper.

Bhphoto.com has it for $419 + Shipping.

I got mine for $340 + $12 shipping.

I think Cameta Camera was cheaper then B&H because they sell gray market lenses. While B&H is a licensed dealer

It doesnt matter really, you just dont get the warranty.

Rating:97% positive over the past 12 months (3142 ratings.) 3143 lifetime ratings.
Shipping: In Stock. See shipping rates. See return policy.
Comments: Brand New. Factory Fresh. Full Sigma USA Warranty. A real deal from a real camera store

Well, them advertising on Amazon and other well known retailer site stating they are brand new, Full Sigma USA Warranty....I'm sure they're not lying about it.

Good luck on your photo taking, that zoom lenses you mention in the beginning is nice, with it and your 18-50 you'll have everything you need.

Few pics I've taken so far. I made the perfect combo purchase on the camera/kit/memory card.

I got the XTi and a Sigma 18-200 lens (28 to 320 SLR range). Love both of them. https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....highlight=DSLR

you should defenitly get the canon 50mm 1.4 (not the 1.8). i have the 50mm 1.4 and the pictures quality is comparable to the L series lens, the only downfall of the lens is that it's a prime and does not have zoom, so you'll have to walk forward or back to zoom. but the lens is extremely fast, captures great images, and creates awesome bokka (sp?)

my next lens will probably be the canon 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM lens. its pricey, but that one single lens will pretty much eliminate you're entire collection of lenses.

i also currently have a tamaron 17-35mm wide angle lens for the panaroamic shots and closer shots. that lens is decent, but i would still use my canon 50 1.4 over that any day.

buy the best lens that suits your purpose. if you need a 50mm and can afford the 1.4 then by all means, however if your budget only allows for 1.8...... research the optics of the lens. as long as it's quality, then i doubt you'd have a problem. not everyone can afford L glass, so buy the best that you can afford that suits your purpose.

that didn't take long lol

Ditch the Sigma and go with the 16 35 f/2.8L - mated to the 5D, it's an amazing wide angle set up.

$1200 avg price tag for the 16-35F/2.8L....that will have to wait. I'm actually looking for a telephoto for my next lens. And of course I have to buy a flash.

After buying:

Canon 5D
Velbon El Carmagne 3 Section tripod
SanDisk Extreme III 4GB
Canon 200DG Gadget bag

I'm tight on spending cash for couple of months.
