MP doesn't really matter. Bigger MP doesn't mean better camera/pics. I'd go look at some Canon point and shoots if I were you, with manual settings and quality in mind instead of MP.

And here's a good site to do some research.

if you are printing poster size pics.........you'll need a hihg MP but if you just want to post on the internet a 5mp camer is fine. quality > mp

More MP doesn't mean better picture. Better lenses and processors gets you a better picture. A 10MP photo with bad lenses and/or processor is still a bad photo, it's just larger now. Any picture with more than 2MP is already too big to show on most computer screens without reducing it. So, if your pictures don't wander off the web, then you would be hard pressed to use more than 5MP. More MP is great when you need to zoom in close or blow up a large print. If you are at a price point where you are considering one camera with more or less MP over another camera, always choose the one with the better lenses.
