I purchased one myself. The XTi is a neat camera. IMO you might want to stay away from kits with lenses other than Canon.

Used Canon XT and Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 for under $900.

Investment is in the glass, not the body.

You could probably buy them both new for under a $1K.

What's the advantage of the XTI over the older XT?

The ebay kits are a waste of $$$$ Most of the stuff included is pure junk. You're better off buying from B&H Photo, Adorama, or any reputable online dealer.

Not much. 2 more megapixel, slightly better autofocus system, larger LCD. That's about it. THe other 'upgrades' aren't worth mentioning (self cleaning sensor... worthless)

thanksx for the replies.
how about http://www.usaphotonation.com/produc...oduct_id=13477 getting this body for $379 and then getting sigma lens for about $250 and getting the kit myself? seems like most people are very happy with sigma lenses. i don't want to buy canon lenses then buy sigmas again.

If you are looking at the Xti, the best price I have seen on the camera body is here, http://www.expresscameras.com/ They are looking for $379 for the body, and offer a slue of kits at reasonable prices ($549 starting). I have had 2 friends that purchased this exact camera from this site, are very happy with their purchase, the camera was brand new, speedy deliver and clean transaction.

i am in the same boat you are, I am looking at this exact same camera and I am about 95% sure I am going to go with this site for, at least, the camera body.

When buying from online. You MUST always always check resellerratings.com.

Watch out for deals that seems too good to be true.

Before I knew about resellerratings.com, I was a victim of bait and switch TWICE!

I suggest buying the XTi body and look into buying all around carry lens.

Search my thread...I recently purchased the XTi. I did all the pricing for you. The cheapest I've found online that is legit and Canon Authorized dealer.

Funny though, those are the only negative comments I have heard about expresscamera.com; I know several people, offline, that have purchased from this website and have had no issues...well, back to drawing board, or at least back to more doing more research

Thanks again!

I am a fan of beachcamera. I've picked up my last 3 or so cameras from there.
Just received my XTi from them as well. Not going to promise it's the cheapest, but I definately was happy with the price and service.

Ordered on Wed Afternoon. Just received it Friday Morning.
