I just went on a photoshoot today. I'll post some pics tomorrow since I'm way too tired to edit them right now. I used the kit lens and my friend's 50mm with the polarizer.

Right now, I'm pretty set on getting the 50mm as the first lens since it's only $80 and very sharp. After that, something like 17-70mm, but that won't be for a while.

sorry if this is a noob question, but would it be possible to just buy the 50mm lens and attach it to the canon rebel xti body without any other pieces? Im thinking about getting just the body, like this:

Wow...that's a good price. $259 for the body plus $80 for a lens? I'm pretty sure it will fit but don't quote me on it.

I think I'm fine with this lens for now. I would have to see how the pictures turn out with other lenses. Let's see some pics that you took w/ the 50mm Json!

First of all, that website's a scam. And if the lens is made for Canon, you can just put the lens on without a problem.

Here's the 50mm I'm talking about.

Quick update...

Huge thanks to ColecatZ for PMing me with the update on Staples clearance price on this item.
Not only was the price $399 but the manager also extended me a 12% discount that ended last Saturday! Grand total w/ tax...

$380.42

Now then... Is the XTi worth the trade in?

Honestly, I wouldn't waste extra $200+ on an XTi. Image quality will be the same. There are a few minor improvements, but nothing essential. For example, the screen's a bit bigger, but it doesn't really help the image quality at all. If I were you, I'd rather drop $300 on a lens that will make a much bigger and noticeable difference. When you get good enough that you need a better camera, go get a 30D or 5D or something. But then again, I see pros shooting with XT's still - just with better lenses.

BTW, I took these pics yesterday.

Point taken.

Few questions...

Settings used for those pics?
What size/pixels?
Light or heavy pshop adjustments?

I have some skills with a camera but suggestions for this particular one r welcomed.

I only use the manual setting

You can check the EXIF on each picture for specific settings I used (aperture/shutter speed).

I used my friends 50mm f/1.8 lens ($75 new) for most of the pics, one or two pics with his Sigma 17-70mm, and the rolling shots with the kit lens.

All of them are photoshopped. I would say...medium amount?
