and he's saying u did such a bad job that he's basically saying he can take those shots with a regular point n shoot camera. cuz we're not seeing 3 different shots. in any of the pics. they just basic stupidpointless pics

WOW you take amazing pictures of the sky, why are you on a forum when you can be making the big bucks man, oh yeah your pics suck . Hdr is a tool to help already good photographers add more of a lighting effect to there pics.

you stitch many different exposures of the same shot, meaning you either bracket your shot or you take 5-6 of the same composition within 1/2 stop of each other. the result would be an image that captures the detail of the light and the dark parts of your image.

so in short, your HDR isn't a very good example of what HDR is, maybe that link will help.

that link has some good info to look through . and i know my HDR wasnt a very good example of what it should have been, it was my first attempt at it, and i couldnt find a picture with alot of color contrast to use. but i was just glad that it did come out, and it gave the colors and shadows more contrast than the original shots did

I shoot mostly HDR's. Trey Ratcliff's tutorial helped me out a lot. The best program to use to combine the mulitple photos is Photomatix.

P.S. Photomatix can also use only one shot and generate a hdr shot off of it. Thats how you get a motion shot in hdr, much like the Falken s13 above. They don't cover the range quite as well, but you can get some really good shots with practice.

This would have passed as a try at HDR. But the process I used for them is no where near the one is used for HDR.

You just need a RAW image to produce an HDR of moving images...since you have a RAW you can do three different exposure settings manualy instead of having the bracketed shot...Rick can do some amazing things... He uses Photomatix for single image(non bracketed) HDRs

Rick did this one the other night...I took the shot and sent it to him...its just a RAW image adjusted...not as good with un-natural light/different types of light/bracketing but its my three favorite beers...so its all gravy

I like using HDR to bring out detail in the image without making it look completely fake. Although I do mess around with exagerated HDRs like Anderson from time to time.

very cool, and im glad to finally be getting some helpful replies

i shoot all my pics in raw format, but i have not been able to find out how to adjust the exposure of the raw file yet. can someone give me some info on how to do that? also, i used photomatix to stitch together all of my previous attempts at this, but i always ended up with some dark areas. anderson, how did you process the cloud pic? mine was much darker around the lower side of it, probably from the overexposed sets of images.

all of my attempts have been with multiple exposures, rather than compensated single exposures, which i would guess would probably give me better results, if i could figure out how to do it.

thanks for the help so far guys . cant wait to see any new responses and play around tonight when i get home.

In order to do a single photo HDR in Photomatixtaken from stuckincustoms.com tutorial) First, open up Photomatix 2.2 or later, then go to the Automate > Batch Processing. In there, just select one raw file and hit run. It will generate the HDR for you.

It will be in a folder in the same folder as the original that you process. Open it up in Photomatix and tone map it just like you would a multiple exposure shot.

so this is something that CAN be done without having to do bracketing of shots?

I really like the cloud pic above as well as the signal skyline shot.

This Photomatrix program can it be downloaded free or where would you go to get it and how much for it? (I noticed someone mentioned $600) but then someone mentioned torrant?
