HDR photography.
i am very interested in learning some more about this type of photography. is this something that you do with digital imaging software? or is it something i can do in the camera?
do you shoot several different pics from a tripod(or some other stable mount where you can snap the same frame) and merge them all together?
i need some guidance if you cant tell , and any help will be appreciated

I only know how to do HDR of a still frame. It involves taking 3 or 4 pictures of different apetures, usually low, medium and high relative for the frame youre shooting. Then you can go to PS, and it allows you to superimpose the images, and it makes this awsome picture lol. Im not sure how it works but it filters out the things that are TOO dark or TOO bright and leaves you with a picture thats got optimum apeture at all depths of field.

i might try this with my camera, it has an image editing feature that allows you to superimpose images, i might see if it will let me do that.
but as far as putting a color shot on top of a black and white, im guessing i will need to use photoshop. like, for example, if i want to put a pic of my car, in color, on top of a black and white background. i guess i would just take two identical pics and superimpose them? or, i could even take one pic in color, and then turn it to black and white and superimpose the color part on top of the black and white?

if i really want to make an hdr, i shoot in raw and adjust the file for the different exposures. i then bring them into Photomatix Pro, create the HDR, and fix the settings. I then put them in PS for resize/watermark/retouching.
i find that shooting 3 different images at different exposures doesn't always work, as it's not guaranteed the framing will be the same in all of them. if any details are misplaced, it'll throw off the whole HDR.
