I've been wanting a 5D for the longest time. Enjoy the full frame sensor! I'll get one of those sooner or later, and use my 1.6x crop 40D as a backup. Crop Factor, FTL.

The 5D is also a great value right now... the rebates are soon over. Too bad I'm heavily invested in crop-only lenses.

I wonder if Canon is going to counter the FF D700 soon.

Great shot of the body.

Miniphone to Nikon PC cord for the Elinchrom Universal Skyports.

Made the mistake of ordering the miniphone to PC cord last time. Nobody told me Canon used Nikon PC terminals on their cameras and flashes... DOH!

What's even more confusing is that this "Pocket Wizard" cable works on the competitor brand trigger- Elinchrom Skyport... and the cable is made by 'Paramount,' who has their brands of accessory cables for cameras... and there is "www.pccords.com" stamped all over the cable.

I still prefer the 1D MKII as my workhorse, though.

Probably 80% of my shots are with the 1D MKII and 20% with the 5D.

You don't like the 24-105? Do you want to sell it?

Looking to replace my 17-85.

From J&R:
Canon 40D w/ 28-135mm - coming 7/23

From Adorama:
2xSandisk Extreme IV 4GB CF
Canon 200DG Bag

That's it for now.. what's a good lens to replace the kit lens as an all around lens? I'm holding off on buying filters until I decide on a lens.

Tamron 17 50 f/2.8
Canon 17 40 f/4.0L

You'll want something wider on a 1.6x crop body, which is why the 17mm on the above listed lenses work nicely, unless you are willing to buy the Canon 10-22 or Tokina 11 17 for the ultra wide angle shots, and get something like a Canon 24 105 f/4.0L IS, Canon 24 70 f/2.8L

I think I will pretty much start off with 3 lenses.. an all around lens, a telephoto lens, and prob pick up the nifty fifty as 3rd lens.. beginner photographer so don't want to pick up anything too high end but I want to get the best bang for the buck

For a budget set up, Tamron 17 50 2.8 for the all around, Canon 70 200 4.0L non IS for the telephoto, Canon 50 1.4 for the prime (or 1.8 if you don't want to spend too much now)

Most will eventually upgrade from the 70 200 4.0 to one of the 2.8 variants. Same with the Tamron; most will upgrade to one of the Canon L lenses, either the 16 35 2.8L or 24 70 2.8L

I wanna play too:

Nikon:
D300
16-85 VR (DX lens) crazy sharp and awesome color saturation
70-300 VR (FX lens) another great lens, but not quite as good as the 16-85
Rodenstock coated UV filter
Rodenstock coated circular polarizer

I am waiting for the SB-900 flash to be available, but for now, I am quite pleased with the Gary Fong Puffer diffuser for the pop-up flash - otherwise, pop-ups are almost worthless.

Coming from 2-years year with a D50 and a Tamron 17-50 f2.8, I am blown away by these pieces.

I suppose I should take pics of this stuff with my P&S...

That's all.

I didn't attend FD this year, first time in several years. For some reason, John didn't give me press credentials.

OK, so I didn't exactly get it today...but the latest addition to my gear: 24-70 2.8L

I'm selling my 50 1.4 tomorrow. I haven't decided if I'm going to use that money towards an 85 1.8 or put it toward some AB800's.

had a hood but sold it for a couple bucks to a close friend.

selling the 50 1.4 w/ box, blank warranty card, etc. + hoya uv/cpl filters for 325. i'm actually getting ready to go meet the guy right now.

we're meeting at samy's in pasadena..i might be tempted to buy the 85 1.8 while i'm there!

nice lens, but didnt see enough action to justify keeping it. not long enough for me. i think the 85 will do just fine.
