Default !!!!Brooks Institute of Photography!!!!

So I just started my new life attending Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara, CA. I'm really excited to get my life going at this point. I'll be studying Product Advertisement for three years. From what it looks like it's going to be an intense program that is very demanding. I know there was another guy on here that I talked to in the past that was going to be attending around this time too, I believed he lived in Texas. If your on here hit me up. Anyways I will definatly be posting my work up here from time to time to let you guys see how the program is going. Here is just some shots I did a while ago while I was going to a J.C. near my home...

Yeah it is very expensive. I'm extremely lucky that I have parents that are willing to finance my education completely in order for me to really concentrate on my studies. And now this means instead of buying car parts I'll now be buying camera/studio equipment.

rob, do you need a portfolio and be somewhat photography savvy to get accepted or can you be a complete noob?

With the small bag of equipment I have and seeing my friend's equipment and costs, I would prefer buying car parts more than camera/studio equipment... It's Cheaper!

You'll enjoy Brooks. Get ready for some intense critique of your work but you'll learn the right way to shoot.

I graduated from their first ever cinematography school in '72. It wasn't much back then but I still learned a lot.

You know I was suprised at the level of entering students in my class and how little they knew. Like some people didn't know how to adjust an SLR or set the camera to shoot RAW. I do have a background with photography classes and do know how to use the camera and manipulate with the manual mode to get a desired image. But some of these people obviously are not going to last very long. These were the people that were like "OH, photography is cool so I'll just sign up for the most intensive photography school in the country." LOL! So to answer your question, Yes they pretty much accept anyone who is willing to pay the tuition. But I would highly suggest having somewhat of a photography background before coming here.
