Default silhouette shots anyone?

i know you need a very dark area and lighting. my question is, where do you place the lighting to get these results?

Well, look where the highlights are, that is probably where the umbrella's are.
And there is most likely a softbox above the camera and car to get that soft light on the roof and rear window.

they are in a studio, the use a long softbox directly above the car to give it a very suddle line of the car. and then they use softboxed strobes on the sides probably pointing almost straight down even with the tires. if i had to guess ha

You might get a better shot, but I'll probably be the one getting lucky.. And I won't pay for it.

giant soft box and some strobes. We have a cove here at brooks Institute and the soft box we have could shoot a huge truck.
