I'll second that. I have a 190xprob tripod with the 488rc4 ballhead. I don't shoot Nikon but a friend does and she has used it, so I know it's compatable.

Either the 190 or the 055 would serve you well, I've never used the 055, but from what I've read the only real difference is it is a bit taller.

I'm selling off my 18-35mm and 50mm f1.4 to fund the 24-70mm f2.8. I'm almost tempted to sell my 70-200mm f2.8 VR since I'll use the 24-70mm mostly for studio work. That telephoto is such a beast that I can only use it outdoors. And even then I'm moving to more secluded / harsher terrains and cannot use such long focal length (cliffs, sand dunes, etc). But Nikkor pro telephotos are so sweet I can't bring myself to selling it.

Now if only Nikon releases the D700x so I can get 24.5 megapixels for my fashion work!
oh man im loving it dude, ive been "making do" up subpar gear fo so long i honestly believed i deserved this and im soooo happy with this set up. i still need a longer good prime, thinking nikon 105 2.8 but then i think ill be good.

i almost bought the grip but you know how many rig shots i do and the extra weight would cause issues for with rig stability

i know dude i keep reading about it on nikonrumors and nikoncafe and i almost waited for it but i had to take the plunge now when i had the cash to do so.

Gotcha, I haven't done a rig shot in a while so I forgot about that. I ALMOST went for the 5D Mk II but after seeing how crappy the plastic (yes...plastic) exterior feels I couldn't do it. My primary focal length is now 24-70mm and the Canon 24-70mm is also inferior...though to Nikon's disadvantage their 24-70mm costs $600 more....used!!! I finally just decided to stay Nikon and I just bought a mint and tack sharp copy of the 24-70mm

Here's a shot of my iPhone. The D700 w/ 14-24mm is from the guy who sold me the 24-70mm...I think I'll kiss my lens to sleep tonight haha. Hopefully I'll be able to save up another $1600 for the 14-24mm. I feel like it's one of those lens that Nikon will discontinue soon because no one wants it and then the price will skyrocket. I'll get it while I still can

I'll get some better shots of my 2nd piece of the Nikon Holy Trinity soon

i really hate those plastic thing that goes on the LCD screen. Look on ebay for the screen protector for your camera, its $3 well spent and it can also protect it from scratches, etc..

Hey everyone, do any of you own a D90 or know how to change the burst mode on the camera?

I have it on Hi with the max fps but I would like to take more than 7 photos while my finger holds down the shutter button. Is there a way to set the camera so that while my finger is on the button the camera will not stop taking photos till I release?

I just want to be able to take more than 7 photos before the camera pauses then continues burst shooting after a second long pause.

I know that, but is there a way to keep it going for every second instead of it pausing at the end of it's 7 frame burst?

^ I'm still waiting until the day I can afford the last of the Trinity - and possibly upgrade to the 70-200mm VRII!

^ Do it bro! I have been working on getting this lens for a long time. They are too damn expensive and I had second thoughts before buying it, but now that I think about it, it's definitely worth the money.

Many times when I go on vacation with my girl, I needed a midrange zoom. It just makes no sense to keep switching between the telephoto and the wide angle if you're walking around town. Plus, for studio work, there is just simply no room for the 70-200mm. I was at a point where I almost sold the 70-200mm to afford the 24-70mm but luckily I didn't have to do that.

I'm still comtemplating whether I should sell off the 70-200mm and get the 14-24mm first and then save for the 70-200mm VRII. I never thought I would like the 14-24mm so much but after shooting with one, it's absolutely amazing. Though it's a bit exotic and I'm not sure I feel safe taking it to travel with all that expensive optics exposed.

i dont know dude i think thats too damn wide for what you do. its too wide for what i do, the only time id use it would be for rig shots....

but if i wasnt shooting so many track/drift events this year id being selling my 80-200 to help fund a 24-70 cause that lens is just soooooo nasty.

buy the lens i have, an 18-35. its not pro glass and its not 2.8 but its super sharp.....see how much you REALLY use it in the 18-24mm range. from the work ive seen from you i think thats ALOT of money to not use that focal length often.

That's true, I'm currently using the 18-35mm as well. But the build quality concerns me - I'm not really used to non-pro zooms. I'm planning on selling the 18-35mm and fund the new 70-200mm VR II. I'll get the 14-24mm in time, but like you say, most of my work won't go beyond 24mm which is why I wanted the 24-70mm before selling the 18-35mm.

Wides are addictive though and one day I will own that lens! I shot with it for about 30 minutes and was immediately hooked. Super sharp and amazing wide open and very little distortion. My gripe with the 18-35mm has been that it distorts too much - though it is a fine lens for the price!

D3+14-24+24-70+70-200= Heaven. You don't need anything else. Well..maybe 85 f/1.4 for some extra smooth bokeh in portrait. I just sold my D3 today. I'll miss Nikon for sure. hehehe

Have you tried out the 70-200mm VR? It is worth the $600 difference to upgrade?
