The Nikon Talk Thread - all things everything Nikon related!
I'm honestly using a 100% Clear UV Filter I got for $7. It's more of a lens protector. As I learn more of what is best, I'll start to add on more things. I think I need a better flash now. At least that is what my buddy who shoots for wedding suggested.

Hey guys - newb to the DSLR world. I have the Nikon D5000 set up with the extra 55-200mm VR lens. I like to take a lot of pictures at sporting events and the 200mm doesn't seem to get as close up as I want it. Is the 70-300mm the next step up?? Or is there something that won't do as much damage to my wallet?
I'm def not an expert. but from my little experience, you should be set to a very fast shutter speed, given you are in an area with adequate lighting. you could set your camera to the "S", iirc, and manually set your shutter speed to a fast speed (1/2500+) and the camera will set everything else. someone correct me if i'm wrong...

can anybody help? i started off with a Nikon d40, kept it a year, and here recently moved up to a Canon Rebel T1i. I like it and all, but just dont feel right with it. Im thinking bout going back to Nikon and picking up a Nikon 300s. Im not quite ready for a D700 yet: but im looking for something close to it. Also trying to stay under 2grand for the camera and lens. Do yall prefer a Nikon 300s as a good semi-pro/pro camera?

^ You don't need a new camera bro, you need to go out shooting - stop worrying about it. If you haven't mastered the T1i, but wants to go Nikon again, I recommend the D90.
thx, yea, i've taken 2000+ shots with it since i've had it, read and done everything i can think of, but still just dont seem satisfied with the camera, is the D90 better than the d5000?
But you really need to decide on the brand. . . both N & C offer comparable camera's. . . it gets really expensive when you jump from one to the other and have to start all over . . .
You would be wise to take a step back and figure out what it is you think that you will gain by changing bodies. . . is it the body or the lens? - perhaps you just need to learn how to work the camera you have. . . are you adjusting the settings manually ? or are you letting the camera adjust the settings ? The more advance the camera the bigger benefit from shooting in manual. . .
Hope that helps
good luck
