Off Camera/Strobing.... the beginning
Started messing around with my lighting equipment finally. Here is a quick test shot. Used Canon EF: 24-70mm f/2.8 L, two Vivitar 285 HV, Blazzeo RF Speedlites Trigger and Receivers.

For the hell of it, I took a wheel shot. Used Canon EF: 24-70mm f/2.8 L, and one Vivitar Flash (off camera). The picture is comprised of two layers due to the body of the car looking too blown out.

Any CC appreciated, this is literally day two of testing this stuff out.

Like strobist.com... I highly recommend reading the book- Light- Science & Magic. I cannot recommend this enough. It gives you the primer of understanding how positioning of light affects the shot.
Good attempts. The flashes are also good for daylight shots to bring out the rotors in the shadowy interior of the wheels.

Thanks guys for the tips. It's bloody cold out here so I was shooting in my garage. My exposures are REALLY long and I'm mostly using the flashes as fills. I can't wait to start trying this stuff outdoors. I really can't wait to use these even for daylight shots to do exactly what ctwentytwo is suggesting.

I'm going to ordering my OCF stuff soon but will probably just have a meet in Vancouver to teach me how to properly use it. I've been on strobist for the last week or 2 (thanks to ctwentytwo) and it's still beyond overwhelming. I don't think I'll have any issues with the placement, but adjusting my camera settings for the flash.
