Default My pet project on my new daily driver

Well, not really new, more like used. It's a 1997 Toyota Camry with 5spd. I bought this back in November for $3400, but didn't start driving it till last month. Since then, I've been trying my best to restore some old parts with some new.

I still drive my FX35, but with gas prices reaching the magical $4.00 mark, I can no longer keep driving that orange beast everyday spending $85 each week. The camry only takes $30 each fill up and the best part? I fill it up every two weeks. So enough blabbering, onto the pictures.

The day I brought "it" home.

Next to my FX

Two days later, new tints, engine tune-up, and hubcaps.

Following week. New OEM floor mats

Restored headlights

Few weeks later, changed the gauge cluster bulbs to white LEDs

After

New shift **** and boot, head unit, SRI, rad. cap, LEDs in HVAC controls and clusters

TRD Shift **** with custom black suede/red stitch shift boot.

Injen SRI

ARC Radiator cap

LED bulbs in HVAC controls

before

after

Still got some other plans for it. Going to need to replace the shocks soon. They're almost shot out. So that calls for some better shocks and lowering springs. Don't want coilovers since the FX is already stiff as it is so I want this to be comfortable. New rims are in order and maybe a decent exhaust. After all that, it'll be a great daily driver.

oh and some recent pics of my FX after being washed, claybarred, and waxed.

Neighbor's RV.

@dkmesa350z: Sorry it's so bland. It is a camry you know.

@r_seng: Thanks. It is different since it lacks aftermarket backing so I'm trying to keep it as simple as possible. Not too flashy.

Finally got my TRD lips installed. Still waiting on the rest of the kit to come in.

Kind of hard to see in the picture I admit. Next on the mod list? Rims.

Same here. Seems pretty pointless to me. Whatever money you're saving on gas, you're wasting on mods.

Haha true, the rims will be my last mod on this car. When I bought the car, I had $2k on the side for this car for repairs and light modifications and so far I barely reached that. All the more, I actually spent more money on the FX this year than I did total with the Camry. Damn 20"s tires are so damn expensive and I have a pesky oil leak where I can't find the source. Not even my mechanic can find the source of the leak.

I'm saving up either for a condo or a new car in the next two years.
