Default My first MMA Event (NSFW?)

Was fortunate enough to hook up with Lucky Ly, Maui Thai couch from AKA. This was a smaller venue show but everyone's gotta work their way up. Lighting was horrible, shot on 1600ISO all night(if 2000). But I did what I could...not bad for being in front of the fence all night. Still, I had a great time. Seeing it in person is amazing! Guy's getting slammed 1ft away from you, then blood and sweat get all over you and your camera.......you definitely have to be a fan in order to enjoy doing this! LOL

Anyways, enjoy the pics I took!

1.
This was one of my guy Matt and his first fight as well. Dominated the first round but got caught with a lightning fast superman punch and blue capitalized on the back control. Look at the beautiful technique of trapping the arm. A la BJ Penn!

2.
One of the girls

3.
Triangle from the top. It was on super tight but blue somehow escaped it. Later losing via decision.

4.
This came from the first fight. Which was an all out brawl. Nothing like getting ring side seats while blood and sweat spatter all over my camera. LOL

5.
This was one of my guy, Nick from AKA and it was his first fight. 30 more seconds and the fight might have been over. Red held on but lost via decision.

6.
Another Girl

7.
This was an all out brawl. Very exciting fight. Red landed some power punches. In this shot, Blue just got punched in the face, smiled. But later losing via decision.

8.
This was one of my guy again. Antwone. A great transition from back control to arm bar. The guy in red was one tough SOB. He would not tap until it almost snapped.

9.
Another girl

10.
Blue pulled guard, red held him up then slammed him. Won by decision.

11.
Blue took his back, flatten him out and won minutes later via TKO.

12.
This was probably the quickest fight of the night. They exchanged a few punches. Red shot in, slammed blue to the canvas but in mid air, blue already setup a super tight guillotine.

13.
Blue escaped it and later lost via decision.

14.
If I remember it right, this shot gave blue a pretty nasty mouse under his right eye.

Awesome shots, looks like you did a great job despite the nasty lighting. I would definitely raise the temp just a little bit to help out with the blueish lighting from gyms.

I shot an MMA competition a few months back. Check out one of my pics!

Lighting was horrible as well. I used the kit lens and this was my first gig ever... and I used JPG

Oh and black and whites look pretty cool in MMA fights too:

Awesome job! I can't wait to do another fight myself.

Great composure too btw. I know how hard it is to try to predict where the fighters will be moving, they could be standing one second, and on the ground the next and the perfect action shot is in that split second when they are headed for the ground.

Awesome job.
