Met up with Audre last weekend for a shoot in Portland. Simply put, she's stunning. Fire red hair with popping blue eyes and a dress to make everything stand out that much more. I couldn't take a bad shot of her and she's extremely nice and easy to work with. I wish every model was this cooperative.

For those interested, I shoot with a Canon 5D mkii, Canon 35mm f/1.4L, Sigma 85mm f/1.4 and Canon 135mm f/2L. Lighting was one Einstein with a socked BD usually boomed overhead. Let me know what you think!

amazing set man! I am still learning to be a strobist. having 1 flash doesn't count as much ..lol

 

Thanks! I used 2 speedlights for the last year and they worked well for the most part but there's just no matching the power range of a strobe. I had the hardest time understanding light (and still do tbh) but it's getting easier with every shoot.

 

I tend (NOW) to use 2 AB800's one with the large Octabox, and the other with a beauty dish (depending) usually gives great results... although I've been focusing on weddings and events for now...i want to get into some really fun stuff over the next couple of months.

also, how do you post the pictures so big here?...never knew how to do that!!!

Nice! I'm going to be switching things up in the next few weeks and try to push my lighting a bit further. right now I'm either using the Einstein and a modifier or my ABR800 but I've seen some really cool examples with a key light setup above camera right or left and using the ABR800 on camera as a fill light. It should be an interesting combination. I've booked a few more weddings ofr the summer but I keep trying to stop doing them. The money will help though as i'm trying to save up and go ft.

I just bought another VML and 2 spare batteries for the summer. Can't get enough of them haha and they're so compact! To post the pics big you just bring up the shot you want in flickr and right above the shot it'll give you 2 options for either actions or another showing mail, fb, and the twitter sign. Click on that.

Then grab the HTML/BBCode but below that it'll give you options for size you want. Just change it to 1024 on the longest side which is what POTN has as the maximum size for pics posted. Then just insert that into the post and voila!

Yea she's just a local model and goes to Oregon State. I found her just browsing local models on MM and looking to expand her port. She was extremely nice and super easy to work with. She kept on asking me to give her direction but what she was doing was just so natural so I let her do her thing.
