Default Need photoshop help with a pic of my girlfriend

Ok my gf needs to submit a picture of her to some modeling agent or something like that, I wasn't paying attention to the details really lol so heres the deal. She has a pretty low quality full body shot of her right after she won a beauty pagent. From that she needs just a face shot. I can crop it, thats the easy part, but she needs it pretty big. When you enlarge it, it obviously distorts, is there any way of fixing that??? I know we have some talented photoshop guys in here any help would be great. Let me know

Yes, it can be done... I don't have the program to do it though, I'll see if I can dig it up anywhere and will post here if I get ahold of it. It was a program developed by Nasa, but even so, it will only work so well and is programmed to do the guesswork of what you would lose from enlarging it.

What's that?

What does it do, pixel interpolation?

To the best of my knowledge and to the extent of most peoples access to such software, pixel interpolation will only yield marginal result. (But I'm not sure what your "NASA" software is.)

You can actually do this in Photoshop using the resize function. It really depends on the quality of the original image. What the pixel size of the original and what do you need the final size to be? (Pixel size or print-size with resolution, either way works.)

I dunno to be honest, a few others I know of that chop have it and LOVE it. That's the info that they've given me about it but I don't know anything else about it.

you can try using bicubic interpolation and moving up 10-15% in size at a time, repeat a few times until it gets better.

Genuine fractals used to be software that claimed it could upsize pics, but I wasnt' impressed.

There's a few different methods with PS... I've used PS since version 2... but if you're pic is small you're not going to get anything you would want to send to a modeling agancy or whatever.

What's this NASA Program called... if anyones ever had it in their posession, I can find it No joke. I'd like to check it out.

Genuine Fractals. that's it!

+1

It's a plug-in filter for PS. It's not that impressive.
mntcrzy's suggestion with interpolation is correct.
