I have a jpeg that I want to make a poster out of as a gift, but the quality is pretty poor and it would be very hazy if blown up. Is there any way to enhance it?

Since its closer to line art it would be alot easier to increase in size and then go back over and smooth out any rough edges. But it wont scale smoothly like true line art would. So you could be looking at several hours of work.
I havent done image manipulation in years, so the newest version of the Illustrator/Photoshop might be able to help out via filters, but it you truly want it to look like the original, it would require smoothing or redrawing at a larger scale.

the best I can think of is increasing the DPI to around 600 or more and then try resizing it. No matter what your going to have to go back and do what Nuki said

I did a quick job, not to bad but it will need some touch up, am not willing to do.

the image size is huge and file size is nearly 30megs on a PNG format. If I remember I'll put on my server for you Monday afternoon

the only way to resize considerably would be to retrace in a vector based program - changing dpi in photoshop will not make it any clearer at larger res.

I can do it for you but it will take a little while, how important is it that you get it done?

a couple things; it doesnt fit that aspect ratio (but close enough 33.5x22.5), and it wont look exactly like that pic, and it will be done way before dec.
