What features of the clutch are proprietary to GTM? I've seen other shops that have the sprung hub version for sale.

You bring up a very valid question and it is important that people know this. Its seems to be a major misconception that the GT Motorsports® Spec Exedy® Twin Disk Carbon Clutch (PN:NT01HDMC) is the same unit as the other twin disk carbon clutch being sold online by other vendors. This is definitely NOT the case as the GT Motorsports® Spec Exedy® Twin Disk Carbon Clutch is the only one currently available for the VQ35 that offers the sprung hub with its patented spider cog drive damper design. The other Exedy twin disk carbon clutches currently available (PN:NM072SBMC) for the VQ35 DO NOT offer this feature which make a huge difference in feel, grab, and drive train shock resistance. To answer your question there is a graph below from Exedy Japan that shows the GT Motorsports® Spec Exedy® Twin Disk Carbon Clutch having the MOST clamping force and power capacity out of all the other Exedy clutches currently available for the VQ35.

Bottom line is the GT Motorsports® Spec Exedy® Twin Disk Carbon Clutch is the BEST clutch you can purchase from Exedy for the VQ35 Platform.

As stated before this clutch is ONLY available through GT Motorsports and no where else, therefore it is IMPOSSIBLE to get this setup anywhere else, regardless of what others may tell you, part numbers don't lie.

Hope this clears everything up,

Sam

PS: The GT Motorsports® Spec Exedy® Twin Disk Carbon Clutch is Highlighted in BLUE.

You then must have the non-sprung version of this clutch as that is the Part number listed on there website, therefore it is not the same clutch we are selling. Nonetheless you have a good clutch in your car

What throwout bearing are you using with this clutch/flywheel combo?

Nice clutch. I just had one of the tech guys from Exedy in the shop yesterday dropping off the transmissions for both his rally car and his drag car and talked to him for a bit about Exedy's clutch offerings for the 350Z.

19.6 is for the flywheel alone, I was a bit tired when I made the other post and posted 19.6lb as the whole assembly, oops! I will get the entire assembly weight as of now all I know is the flywheel is 19.6lbs. Thanks again and sorry for the confusion!

Huh, okay. Thats actually kind of heavy for a lightweight flywheel. Oh well.

Actually it is still much lighter than stock, while still maintaining very quite operation and stock like feel when compared to other clutch/flywheel combos able to handle close to this amount of power. There is such thing as too light (trust me I used to own a tilton setup on my Z ) On a FI car a 19lb flyhwheel is actually an advantage since it makes it easier to drive and launch the car if you are drag racing.

Anyways I am not trying to convince you to purchase this clutch from us, but rather for you to continue to research other options available to you and I think you will find this is the best clutch out there for the VQ35 platform.

Thanks!

In comparison, my NISMO flywheel is 23 lbs.

George, again, what throughout bearing do you use with this setup?

drove it yesterday...

I had the ATS Dual Carbon with 1350kg PP before, and I hated it so much I had to sell it. Went with a JWT instead since my power level was low. I was scared to ever step to another carbon clutch again because of how hard they drive.

It took Sam A LOT of convincing to get me to try this clutch out, which I did. Honestly, I was so excited to drive my car again, I totally forgot about the clutch. It held, it slipped when I wanted it to, I completely forgot it was there even though I was in the crazy LA traffic.

This clutch is really amazing imo. I'm completely in love with it.

Thanks Sam!

I had the entire assembly weighed in and it came out to 36.9lbs. Very good for a complete assembly that can hold this much force!

Thanks again everyone, a few clutches will be shipped out this monday, you know who you are
