and oil causes $7, so really, they're not making much $$ off of you.

Too bad the dealer takes forever to do anything. You would feel better about yourself if you did it yourself. IMO changing oil is so easy all guys should be able to know how to do it/and do it there selfs. I just use a cordless drill to get all the screws off, pretty fast for me.

So swapping out the oil filter isn't required for every oil change right? Can i clean my oil filter and keep the old one? If so, what do i clean it with?

Hey all new owner here - do you guys leave the car on jackstands the entire time during the oil change?

I guess I'll find out soon enough but - I don't know where the oil bolt is so I'm wondering if all the oil will drain out if the car stays up on the stands (the front would be higher than the rear), or does the car have to be level for all the oil to drain out?

Also read the top 100 questions but can't tell, is there a consensus on full synth vs dino? Thanks.

Mobil1 oil filter is not worth the money. My local Napa Auto parts store manager was discussing oil filters with a customer and the customer mentioned Mobil1 and the manager quickly replied saying that particular filter is crap. He says he has opened up many oil filters before and Mobil1 and Fram rank as the worst filter qualities he has ever seen. Take it for what it's worth..

He said the only thing he would use is Wix.

Why not just pay the $5 for a filter every time you change the oil? It's not that much for an added piece of mind. Besides if you take it off anyway to clean it(if that is possible), you might as well throw a new one on.

Unscrew that sucker, mines was stuck in there pretty good so I first used a flathead screwdriver or anything thin, Keep in mind to wear gloves and have that "nut" secured on something because it will slip! Trust me I still have the cut to prove it. Then finally use a plier or anything to grip that loose end and unscrew the washer. Simple eh? Well at least now you're more protected from leaks. (I always buy an oem filter along with a washer even if I don't use it, its good to have it)

As for those who brings in their car for oil changes, is it $30 bucks for regular oil or synthetic? My DIY oil change cost me around $30 bucks (OEM nis filter & 5 Quarts of 5W-30 Mobil 1 Full Synthetic).
Correct me if I'm wrong, Last I remember synthetic oil change costs like $50-80 bucks?

1. MOBIL 1
2. K&N
3. PUREONE (surprise!--one of the top three rated oil filters on the market!)
4. All the others.

1. MOBIL 1 5W30, in my case; you should check the Owner's Manual for your specifics.
2. The Maxima I sold in order to buy my Zed had like 8-1O of them screws, so I "retired"
½ of 'em, and kept ½ (i.e. every other hole got a bolt); it held up nice'n'sweet for the
5 years I owned the Maxima. NO PROBLEMO. Bottomline: My "Z" will only have 7 of 'em
babies soon!

I read somewhere that the OEM Nissan oil filter is actually manufactured by Fram! So,
heads up; go with PureOne, MOBIL 1 or K&N (Wix is not available at Puerto Rico, so I
don't even consider it).

My last Full Synthetic oil change was $58. I usually do my own, but changing oil when it's 20 degrees is no fun. Winter time oil changes are left to Valvoline.
