Default Another Greddy TT on a Relentless Autosports built motor

This car came to us with a basic Greddy TT kit on blown (stock) motor. This car had been done by another shop previously and had lived up to a good amount of abuse for about 28k miles (boosted) at about 7psi, and 48k total miles. This car was running on the stock fuel pump, 440cc inj., and an E-Manage blue.
On teardown, we were real quick to realize that this was one of the worst blown motors that we have ever seen. The block was broken in about four places, the crank was badly bent, the heads were destroyed. There wasn't much left of the internals, and most of the rods and pistons were not even recognizable.

We built the customer a new motor using our standard build with our own rods & pistons, and some JWT C2 cams. We initially were going to sell the Greddy kit for him and install a new JWT 700BB TT kit and operating system, but temperary financiall problems that the customer was having had us just opt to send out the Greddy turbos to be refurbished, as we found quite a bit of debris in them.
When the motor was done and the turbos came back, we installed everything as it was before. The car was driven around by myself and the customer at a mild 5psi just for break-in purposes for about 2k miles.

Just yesterday we got the car back on the dyno to be tuned and to add a bit more boost. We tuned it at the Dyno Shop on one of their Dyno Dinamics dynos.

Now keep in mind that this car is still being hindered by the lack of fuel so we were not able to make the monster numbers that we know we can from this motor, so we were limited to about 10psi. That is just about when it started to run out of fuel and start to get lean.

The customer is very pleased with his car and with our suggestions, has opted to come back in about a month so that we can upgrade the control box to a split second unit (the same one we use on our JWT TT kits), a JWT FMU, some 550cc injectorsere, and a Walbro 255 fuel pump.

Here is the (temperary) results, can't wait to get this car back and put some more power to it and show again what our motors are capable of. Not too bad considering the fuel system, and only about 10psi.......

Two Questions:

1) why does that graph only show to 5600 rpms?
2) if you have access to a dyno dynamics.. why don't you ever dyno your other cars with it?

I don't get it.

this guy can afford to build a motor and add such luxuries as cams, but he can't afford $90 for a walbro 255?

1) because that is obviously where it was shut down. This was just a preliminary tuning session, remember....not a all out power pull. We will wait to do that once the car comes back in for the fuel system upgrades, etc.

2) We have access to Dyno Jets, DynaPacks, and Duno Dynamics. We tune most of our JWT TT equiped cars at Jim Wolf Technology with Jim and Clark with their DynaPack. The other cars we dyno tune that are not JWT related (like this Greddy, Vortech's, APS, etc.) are tuned & dynoed at the a place like the Dyno Shop that has 2 Dyno Dynamics, and a Dyno Jet.

The "guy" as you refer to, was in a bad spot, he needed to make his car run again after blowing up his motor. I had a non-rev up motor almost already built and ready to go (it was going in my personal G35) with cams and everything. We sped up his cars down time by letting him have this motor instead of building him another one from square one. He just wanted a running car again for now, and like I stated, we will be getting this car back in about a month to finish it up with the upgrades.

Yeah, not a big fan of those intakes either. This is more of a show car, so the intake is more about the bling, for him I guess.

well i just figured since you have access to mutiple dyno's you would have took advantage of them prior.. since we are still waiting on the 700/800 whp dyno's of SinCity's car that you promised a while back..

I had thought maybe you didn't have access to the dyno's.. but here i see you do.. i was just curious

Not quite sure yet, as this is just the begening with this car. It looks to be at full boost at about 4200 though at about 10psi. for now.

is that because of the cams? because most Greddy Kits hit full boost at 3600/3800 rpms

pretty nice numbers considering. What do you expect to hit once he brings it back and does all the upgrades?

I have backed up the DynaPack numbers that we have made on JWT's dyno with Dynojet numbers that we have gotten from the Dyno Shop before severall times. I even made a thread about it once (on a black G coupe).

As for the numbers on the time attack car, as soon as we get some of the other stuff complete and finished on it I am sure we can make a run or two on a dyno jet, it is just not our priority at all. In racing, real racing....nobody cares about dyno numbers, that is NOT what wins the races. There is a lot of other more important variables involved in that car than power. And I already know what that car is capable of making as far as power goes, so that part of the car is not a priority.

hey i agree with you 100%.. HOWEVER if you are going to post Dyno Sheets on the car it means that you obviously care to share the dyno sheets.. we are just asking for a couple comparison dyno's..

had you not posted the first dyno sheet.. or other dyno sheets from the dynopak and only posted your racing results.. no one would question what the car's power was

I posted the dyno sheets on this car cause I knew someone would ask for them.

Lets try to keep this thread about this car and this build.

I do not care to rehash anything else in this thread. When we are good and ready, and in due time, we will bring up the time attack car and its power potiential, that car is starting to be torn down for some off season cleaning and maintainance in preperation for the 2008 season, and I am sure you all will see and hear more about it here comming up in the next few months, but not now. This thread is about this customers G35 coupe, thanks.

Damn guy, just drop it.. It is not any shops responsiblity to deliver multiple dyno graphs on different dyno types. Plus you are completely OT.

Thanks. Not too sure, probably comfortably in the 500's on 91 pump gas, and somewhere in the 600's on race gas, if he wants.

Cool!

Did you tune the car, and what EM did he end up using?
