GRD used a dynapack when they attempted to tune my car (and ended up blowing my head gaskets). I didn't think they had a DD

Still low PSI for so much power.

dunno.. their 3.5L shop car made 1026 at 27psi. IP is making 775dynodynamic at 27psi on their 3.5L as well. This a 4.2L stroker (20% bigger!), albeit thru a lossy tranny.

But with that tranny, he should only need ~700hp to chop high 9s passed, if it can hook with 1.3-1.4s 60'. transbrake TH400 on the strip FTW!

Because the G35 sedan's rear wheel wells are so small, and we cannot fit a tire in there to hold the power, the customer is have the wheel wells modified by a body shop to allow the use of a proper tire. Not sure when that will be done.

He just needs the right offset. At 9.5" wide +49 offset you can fit 295s with stock camber arms and only rolling the fenders.

10" wide +55 offset 305s could be possible.

Those will have no chance at the track launching on a trans brake. He needs a full slick.

i think the outlaw 10.5 class runs more hp and much much faster than that car could ever dream.

If you can fit a 9.5" rim, you can mount a 10.5 slick. Heck, most people put those on 15x8" rims

Those cars run on a slick called a "10.5W"....where the "W" stands for wide. They are more like 12" wide tires and they are around 33" tall! That's not gonna work in a sedan wheel well.

from Goodyear's website:

AKRON, Ohio--– The latest member of Goodyear’s long line of drag racing tires will hit the strip soon and the new product is aimed at one of the fastest-growing segments of the sport: The Outlaw Racing Street Car Association’s 10.5 Outlaw Class.

A coming-out party is planned for the July 30-31 ORSCA event at Carolina Dragway in Jackson, S.C.

Known by its nickname, 10.5W, the new tire measures 33 inches tall and its tread is 11.6 inches. It is a bias-ply racing slick, mounts on a 15-inch wheel and has a 104-inch circumference. The tire has Goodyear’s D4B tread compound. The 10.5W tread width designation is mandated for the class by the sanctioning body.

Carolyn Ashbee, Goodyear’s sales and marketing manager for drag racing, said the testing results point out several areas where the new tire has an advantage over the competition.

“It appears our new tire has significantly increased tread life compared to our competition,” Ashbee said. “We’re seeing better performance, too. We think this tire will catch on in Outlaw racing very quickly.”

The ORSCA has eight classes and its brand of racing is very popular in the Southeastern United States. The cars in the 10.5 Outlaw class must weigh 3,000 pounds. They use engines that are turbocharged, blown or boosted by nitrous oxide. The cars race heads up, without a handicapping system.

Other sanctioning bodies have similar classes and the 10.5W will be available to drivers in those organizations as well.

ORSCA drivers Mike Hill, Gil Mobley and Joey Martin are among the handful that have been part of the development process for the 10.5W.

“I think it’s going to be good,” Hill said. “We’ve got a lot of Outlaw people waiting to try this tire.”

Hill lives in Atlanta, Ga. and drives a 2002 Ford Mustang with a 731 cubic inch engine. Assisted by nitrous oxide, the car develops about 2,100 horsepower.

Mobley lives in Dayton, Maryland and drives a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro. He said of the 10.5W, “I like that tire.”

I know that. But, thats exactly my point. those cars are making 2000+hp (prolly 2x the HP the SP car is making) and go down the track just fine with just 1" or less tread difference. he can fit a 28" 10.5 with the right backspace and basic fender roll and thats still alot of tire.

the 29x9x15 hoosier slick would probably mount right up with no fender work. Just gotta get the right backspacing for the sedan.

SP is no stranger to the strip, so i'm sure they wouldnt have the owner do unnecessary work to fit more tire than he needed.

Vlad is very excited for the upcoming season. Before when the car was on the dyno, we couldn't do anything past 25psi without the tires rubbing. The fenders have since been very slightly widened and we had it back on the dyno to be sure it would clear the tires. All is good now!

We have also integrated the e-throttle control with the ProEFI. I'll have some videos shortly of the car on the dyno. It makes excellent power and spools unbelievably fast. The converter is also perfect for the drag strip which will be very obvious once I post up dyno charts. Much more to come!

Glad to hear the good news!

I forget from our past discussions... What is the stall set at on that torque converter and what gear does he have in the rear end? Don't Supras typically run a 3.7 gear in the rear end with that trans?
