oil change, and while i had it up on lift- took a really good look at underside of car for any "suprises" from running over an 8 inch or so chunk of curb that was in the roadway that i couldn't see/avoid and run over blowing out a sidewall on a tire.... and found/fixed this damage to my z-speed under tray...

Not sure what thread to ask this in. Not sure how many people are on notification for events.
My wife and I are going to be taking vacation in Vegas late this year. I intend to plan the vacation around events other than gambling one of which would be attending a major car show.
Motor Trend has one in November which is my likely choice because it will be some new stuff to look at.
SEMA says that it is for vendors only from everything that I've looked at online. This brings me to my question:
Do they sell any non vendor tickets or is there any way one can get vendor passes in order to go to that event?

I go to SEMA every year as well as the CES show. If you know somebody in the "business" of car audio, fabrication, paint, and now even vinyl wrap, they can add you to their list and get you a badge. I believe they are allowed up to 4 entries, but the company I go with for some reason are allowed 6. If you have never been, it is amazing...good luck. Hope this helps you out.

Unfortunately, the AVN awards show was moved about 2 weeks after CES (probably too many wives finding out that their husbands were attending after CES or vice versa). Sorry to burst ur bubble trav. It was actually moved due to the overcrowding of the convention center. Back in the day, we would check out all the car audio and then go downstairs to take pictures with the likes of Jenna Jameson and Ron Jeremy to name a few. FYI...Ron is one of the funniest dudes I have ever met. Anyways, both SEMA and CES are pretty amazing. Hope you get a chance to go. I just moved to CA from Vegas 2 years ago...my advice...get a hotel off the strip. The Station Casinos take care of their guests very well and its much cheaper, but don't tell them you are there for SEMA, they may raise the rates.

Simple economics, dude. Supply, demand, Laffer curve, etc.

I stay in a variety of hotels and such when we travel. There's definitely high and low seasons.

Ridiculous case in point: There's a street of nice motels in Monterey, CA that I used to stay at on those quick-road-trip-down-the-backroads weekends. (When I was single.... laff... now we stay at Hotels on the water with spas to keep the wife happy.)

Anyhow, most of the time, the rates are ridiculously low.... maybe $69-89/night. Summertime though, average rates double. Annnnnd, big race weekends at Mazda Raceway like the Historics in August, expect those same damm Motels to ask $350+/night. And they get booked. By same logic, the hotels we usually stay in there go for $700/night. That's why we don't go to those events often.... ridiculous gouging.

But along those lines... same everywhere from Maui to NYC. Ask me how I know about rate hiking in Maui.... Why yes, the entire year's mortgage is paid with about 1.5 months of high rate rental occupancy.
