Default Door Windows

I have a 03z. Sometimes the drivers side window doesn't work. I'v taken it back to the dealer twice for this and they say there is no problem with this. It won't duplicate the problem for them they say. Anyone ever had this problem with the windows not going up or down? If so what was the fix? A switch or window motor?

Nissan has a problem with there window motors. It more than likely needs the motor replaced. VERY common problem. The dealer you are going to is full of it, if they do not know there is a problem.

YUP........ window motor is dying. i have already replaced my driver side and my passenger is dead as we speak.......get used to it. btw i have 43xxx miles. if you run a search you will find it is a common problem. if your window gets stuck down, hold the switch in the up position( not auto up) and hit the door panel right above the switch. a few whacks should put it up.
expect to replace these more than SHOULD BE neccessary. part will cost about $250-$265, dont know what labor is, my first was warranty and i am putting the second one in myself. good luck!!!!

Good thing I have any extended warranty. I have a warranty that covers everything except for things like brake pads, tires, clutch and pressure plate etc... the wear and tear things. I have a 7 year or 100,000 mile warranty on everything.

Take'in it and dropping it off at the dealer tonight.

Also it makes a popping noise when I press the clutch pedal in. Any ideas what that mightbe?

both window motors have died on the Z (one replaced under warranty and the other is about to be replaced) and its due to the stupid 1/2" movement of the windows when you close the door.

just to let you know i have the "gold" extended warranty also that i thought covered everything under the sun on the car untill 100k miles/7years whatever. well it did not cover the window motor. the warranty does cover about everything else mechanical on the car in terms of the engine.

a new window motor will cost $250ish, and then labor after that puts the job at around 450-500 bucks. i got lucky and found a motor off an individual parting their Z out for racing, bought it much less and then found a friend mechanic to do the job for nearly nothing.

definately a problem that will continue to get worse for you so if you are still under the OG warranty get it done now!!!!! safe yourself the hassle down the road.

I have replaced the drivers motor in my 03' it is pretty easy actually, only took me about an hour while taking my time to do it right. I found the motor at the performance nissan website for $188 plus shipping. This is probably your best bet. Good luck man.

Well I talked the dealership today and their going to replace the window motor and replace the clutch mastercylinder. Its all covered under warranty. They said the clutch popping was because of pressure buildup in the mastercylinder. I said just fix the damn thing, its already been here 3 times for the same thing.

Is this the motor, or the regulator? I talked to a buddy of mine who is a parts guy at a dealer and said that they have all sorts of regulators fail, but hardly ever any motors?

Last night I could not get the drivers window up. I tried the window LOCK and UNLOCK several times, and window UP and DOWN to no avail. I did a search for “window stuck down,” and found your post. “Smack the inside of the door panel.” Sure. Right. That's the dumbest idea that I’ve read.

This morning I got in the car, and still, the window was stuck in the DOWN position. Then I smacked the door panel a couple of times with my fist. Now the window works fine. Thanks for your help.
