Question Nissan 350Z Vs. Mitsubishi EVO Vlll

Hey wusup....This is my first post up in here....

I'm about to buy a 350Z...BUT!...I'm kind of a racing freak...and I also see that the Mitsubishi Lancer is also fast...But not the best looking car...

I live in Vegas...and went up to the Speedway tracks...I saw an EVO 8 run 14s...close to 13's...and also 350Zs run....but they didn't do that good...The 350Zs had bad starts and one lost to a Honda S2000...and one lost to a RSX type S...IDK if it's the drivers lack of experience...But they always seemed to have bad starts

I just wanted to ask a question to everyone...

350Z or Mitsubishi Evo 8....Which will win...what's the ups and downs of each car....?...

I know it depends on the driver....But lets say...overall who would win...?

I was at the track friday and my best was a 14.112. I talked to a guy with an EVO and he said he was gonna try and launch it somewhat hard and he got a 14.0? The awd helps from a dig, but from a roll we can probably take them.

Most people don't know how to launch at the strip. Were they doing burnouts prior to staging? that'll tell you something if they were. Real waste of time on street tires. If they are not good launchers stickier tires would just mean worse 60 foot times anyway, more grip = more bog. Example: I could run the same exact ET on my GSX-R 750 on a damp/wet track as a dry track, and it was easier. Wheel spin helps keep the revs up, just as long as it's not to much wheel spin. So you either spin, or slip your clutch, whichever you want to abuse, clutch or tires

Ok, rambling. People have run in the 13s with Zs, and I'm sure people will run in the 13s with stock EVOs. They are pretty much neck and neck depending on who's hands they are in.

I'd go with the Z. The evo is a great car too. Depends on your needs, your disposition to looks versus stat sheets and brand.

I never owned a Mitsu, but know lots of people with the Eclipse GSX or GST. After driving modded and non modded, not too impressed with build quality but the modded ones are fast as hell.

The Evo will be easier to upgrade obviously. but don't think it will be much cheaper than modding a Z.

I also hear Mitsu is releasing an upgraded 300+HP version in several months to make ammends for the small mistake they overlooked, the STI impreza.

If i was in the market for a car I would buy a used 350Z! They seem to have depreciated with the announcement of the convertible as well as more availibility. So if you can get yourself a prestine used 350Z performance trim for $24k, thats the move!

Then the money you save on not getting the evo you can mod the Z or go on some nice *** vacations.

Driver and madshiftingskillz really help at the track. A Z losing to an RSX is driver skill. I beat RSXs with my fiance's Elipse GT. I have also witnessed a 3.5 Altima beat a S2000. Go drive the Z and the EVO and decide which car better suites your needs.

Speaking of upgrades....

Any rumors or facts on the 2004 350Z coupe...?

Anything like the EVO upgrades...?

I love how the 350Z looks like...and I have also test driven it....and I'm not really into how the EVO Vlll looks like

... if there are good upgrades....like +HP...or a supercharged engine...I don't mind waiting for the 2004 version of the 350Z...or should I say 350ZX?

Sooo any one got anything on it...?

Read the thread before you just randomly pull words out of multiple posts and then post, ok?

Ok, I went to my local track last weekend(Byron Dragway). Didnt take the Z, wish I did.Seen a EVO 8 for the first time there, it was silver. He had exhaust, and a boost controller from what I seen. It was a cold day, Temp 38-40 degrees. He ran a 12.69 @111 Mph
I could not beleave it, I was amazed...Oh, and my 92 Prelude ran a 14.69 @95 that day, like anyone cares

From a race from a stop, if both drivers know how to drive, the Evo will out launch the 350Z. The longer the race goes, the more it favours the 350Z. You really cannot argue too much with 287HP and a low CD of drag when at higher speeds over 100mph....

The evos are very similar to the WRX in that gears 1-3 are spaced very closely, and then there is a bit of a step to 4th and 5th gears. Same thing is true with the Neon SRT4 cars.... 4th gear isn't really a strong point in those cars unless they are modded....
