Details on the Detail? Looks nice, just wondering what materials were used.

 

 

Ouch. The paint looked horrible before. Stop cleaning off the bird crap with sandpaper.

oh dude. i almost got in a fight w/ some car wash spot in DUBLIN, CA... don't go there...

im sure it was accidental but i think they dropped the wash cloth and wash my car w/ it w/ dirt.

Run down of what I did to the car

Wash and Clay
Optimum Compound by Porter Cable with yellow cutting pad
Optimum Polish (old formula) by PC with orange light cutting pad
Poorboy's EX-P Sealant by PC with grey polish/sealant pad
Clearkote's Carnauba Moose Wax by PC with red final pad

There are still some little scratches in certain areas that I wasn't able to remove with a PC, I would have to use a rotary to remove those or the best option that the car really needs is a good wetsand.

ouch, you had to use a compound with a yellow pad. It hurts me to see a Z that needs that. At least it looks a lot better. Those swirls on your hood looks like you've been drying with a cheap towel..not a dirty one. Trying going in a back and forth motion instead of a circular motion.

 

Haha yea this is the first relatively new car that I've ever had to use a compound on, it was needed though It looks like someone washed the car here with a cheap or dirty towel and ruined the paint. We will have to get some nice MF's here for the shop or I'll start having to bring mine from home

ha, thanks. Wait until i revise it summer with better pics taken from a second person. It's hard to take all of the right pics in bad lighting and a crappy camera.

From the list you said you did, i'm surprised you didn't finish with something lighter. It's a bit hard to use that optimum polishand use it with a orange pad as a last step polish. You need something another light polish with either a white pad or grey pad after an orange pad most of the time. There should be a lot of micromarring in the paint. If you see little specs of crisscross scratch marks in your paint, this is what it is.

Some deeper scratches could of just been wetsanded in certain areas like you said.

On an everyday black car, you will get swirls regardless. Remember that. It's just of washing and drying. All you can do is take better precautions on how fast those swirls will come. Good luck.
